Why is FOX and the msm promoting soccer endlessly when no one watches it?

Ratings for soccer here are astronomically low. Gameshows, local news and weather have way more viewers than soccer.

Yet there is a coordinated, expensive and unending promotion for soccer here in the US. It feels so in-organic, so forced but yet so prevalent it is unreal. Kind of like the CNN, MSNBC FOXABCNBCBS news - an alternate reality pushed relentlessly regardless of cost.

There is also an equally futile annual attempt in England to get people interested in American football, at great opportunity cost of displacing Association football.

Even for people who don't consume soccer exclusively, it then has to compete with Rugby football as well.
