In terms of self defense Mens Rea already does that. Acting under duress absolves "guilty mind" and grants full immunity regardless of any statute.

For sure. There is no other constitutional right that is given up by criminal prosecution. Like imagine if the 8th amendment were waved the second someone was convicted. What would the point be? Or the fifth, or the sixth. They get you on one minor charge and then you and they are perpetually absolved from due process for anything else they want to make up. Then give you extra time because you failed to confess to the made up crimes because you have no fifth amendment right.

Maybe if it was tied to having committed violent crime. There are people who have committed felony tax fraud that are probably safer with a gun than the average person on the street. The public safety argument isn't there, and the constitutional argument that the government can take away a constitutional right because it wants to and as a punishment isn't there either.

The 2a provisions a militia of the people, meaning the people should be equipped to a minimum standard as infantrymen. Select fire rifles are the most common infantry weapon of the day. NY, RI, and NC all paraphrased the relevant text from the Virginia Declaration of Rights in their Constitutional ratifications. The Virginia Declaration of Rights says...

That the people have a right to keep and bear arms; that a well regulated militia composed of the body of the people trained to arms, is the proper, natural and safe defence of a free state. That standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, and therefore ought to be avoided, as far as the circumstances and protection of the community will admit; and that in all cases, the military should be under strict subordination to and governed by the civil power.

So it's not just the 2a text. We have the ratifications of several states explaining exactly what the 2a means. Ironically, NY is one of the most restrictive states today.

The 1986 Hughes (D-NJ) amendment is absolutely unconstitutional. The fed is expressly prohibited from limiting our people's militia to a finite set of antique select-fire rifles. And due to selective incorporation and New York's own Constitutional ratification, so is the state of New York.

It would only need to happen once.

Thermal imaging ignorance is the standing redcoat of today. Do you know how easily you're picked off with that stuff? When it's overhead and looking for you, you're either suppressed or dead. Drones are an ace up your sleeve that allows you to stay informed and combat effective when otherwise you'd be completely blind and incapacitated. Furthermore, AI is going to be increasing important in camouflaging the radio signature of your position. Wired coms to repeaters, including hijacked power lines, carries a lot of preparation and risk. Even if a drone can't strike, it can still tell you when and where to move while your position stays radio dark. These drones don't have to fly either. A wireless game camera can also collect intel. A modern foot soldier who lacks these capabilities may as well be standing proud in the middle of a grassy field at noon.

In the near future or already here there will be drones equipped with multiple 50 cal... sniper rifle type guns that will fly over an area and see your hear signature and hit to kill with 99% accuracy... the tech is already here or has been here its just are thry using it already... I guess if ya knew what they had there could be some ways to mask your heat signature but do you want to trust your brain splattered on some impromptu cammo
