Noah Webster actually restored the correct English spelling of words like color and honor. The "u" was actually added by a UK newspaper owner infatuated with the French, which apparently was in vogue at the time.

If you read earlier newspapers and literature from the UK you will note that "color" predates "colour". Then "color" and "colour" can be both found simultaneously, eventually the corrupted spelling "colour" winning out among Britards.

Interestingly, "velour" is a perfect example of the correct use of "u" in English, because one pronounces it like the French. The millionaire retard newspaper owner wanted people to pronounce color as "couleur" but only the faggy new spelling stuck.

It's not true that it was removed. It's more like as American spelling was standardized, the "u" was never adopted. Prior to that, people just spelled shit however.

We don't use it because we don't talk like mouth breathers.
