People defending themselves are given life sentences even with clear video footage. Hell, even the guy taking video can get a life sentence now.

My cam is always square and records very decent.
Hollywood cop shit is intentional.
My $85USD cam some how doesn't act like US LEO devices of obscurity

Probably a few reasons:

1) weight. Yes, cameras are light, and all kinds of attachments already add weight, but anything that can be done to decrease the carry weight of a weapon system is useful. Just like when planes save tons of fuel by losing a few pounds of structural weight.

2) electronics. Power sources add weight - see above - and also with high impact environments, electronics don't seem to stay working very long.

3) cost. to improve the working life of electronics takes a lot of money.

4) reliability. exactly how often will the gun be pointed at the target and how easy is it to lose aim?

probably a few other reasons too.
