Operation Highjump and the theory of Nazis retreating to Antarctica makes sense now.
They found a way to a different pond.

Our pond was so infested with parasites, that it couldn't be saved. So the Nazis were going to move us to another pond.
But they had to blow the bridge or tunnel when the Americans tried Operation Highjump. To prevent our pond from infecting the new pond.

Even the name makes sense, "Highjump". Jumping to another pond.

Then the Nazis who could no longer get to the other pond, because the path was destroyed, they tried to invent rockets that would get them there.
