If I could use it twice, once to go forward to acquire advanced technology, then again to go back to a more based time period.

None, you would appear in the middle of space somewhere. But then if you had a space-time machine, then I guess I would try the distant past.

Not if you calculate earth's position at the time you want to travel back to. I would assume that time machines would already have that technology embedded. You may not be able to warp back to an exact date but you could get close.

That space-time machine better also be able to match the local inertial reference frame or you are going to look like that nig that jumped off a moving train onto the platform, but a lot worse.

Waste of potential. You should go back and have a long talk with Hadrian. Heavily emphasize the no survivors whatsoever thing. You'd save us all a lot of trouble if you did.
