The tranny is slipping a little when the car is cold but seems to go away after the car warms up a bit. 140k miles, generic model sedan, 2012, automatic transmission. I am working on adding some Lucas. Is this a huge deal and time for a rebuild or something that can wait 10k miles? Getting to the point where adding a new tranny might not be worth the 4k.
I loaded it up with Lucas and another one. It is pretty much all filler at this point and very little actual fluid. Spins like a top. I wonder if that will cause it's own issues... ? Hmm..
While a good product you should definitely have mostly ATF in your transmission. The valve bodies etc can get clogged if the fluid is too thick. When mixed with ATF fluid the Lucas stuff barely changes the working viscosity of the fluid.

Good call. I need an oil change so I will ask for some guidance. Also, it was a pain in the ass trying to figure out the fill level. There are two marks and a hot but no High mark as I was expecting. Gotta keep an eye on it when we get in the 90's.
I've used it in a Mazda CX-9 and a couple Subarus. Worked like magic. I have read that it's not recommended for Fords and maybe others, so do some research and read reviews. For less than $15 it might be worth a try.
That looks legit. I also have low fluid so I am going to use the Lucas but if my fluid was full, I would def go in this direction. Might still if the Lucas doesn't work. Thanks for the pointer.
Checked it out. Kinda brown and definitely low. Will be adding fluid to top it off. It tastes like marshmallows and maybe lead. It smells like a car repair shop.
Don’t waste money on transmission additives. Do a fluid change first. With most vehicles you will need to do it more than once because only about 1/4-1/3 of the fluid will drain out. You should see immediate improvement after the first fluid change. If so, do it two more times to get 80-90% new fluid in the system. Dropping the pan and replacing the filter is a good idea so you can see how much metal is in the pan, but not strictly necessary if your vehicle has a drain plug.

Would pair nicely with burning tire and turpentine.

I wouldn't bother with it too much if you're already planning on having the mechanic inspect it; just keep that picture in mind for future reference.

Lucas oil is good and will sometimes work. But if none of that helps then its toast.
