this is so sad and pathetic dangus, I knew you were low IQ but it's this bad?

It's called vanishing point...they don't "disappear over the horizon" you fucking moron, take the zoom function on that camera and zoom in and all the bases will start coming back into view

they are only "different sizes" because they are further distances from your eyes, creating different "depths" of vanishing points for each one.

Literally my 8 year old knows this...

[ - ] Prairie 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 9, 2023 00:25:01 ago (+0/-0)

Excellent imitation. It's believable.

[ - ] Panic 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 20:07:16 ago (+3/-2)

Okay, let me play too.

If things disappear around a globe while still in view, why don't they appear to the eye to be 'leaning back'? As a long haul trucker in my youth, there were mountain peaks in the Rocky Mountains visible from over 40 miles distance. No appearance of them leaning away. How come?

[ - ] GloryBeckons 3 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 20:29:00 ago (+4/-1)

How many degrees would you expect them to be leaning at? Given a distance of 40 miles, on a sphere with a circumference of 24900 miles?

You can calculate the angle in degrees like so: (distance / circumference) * 360

Having calculated the degrees, how different would you expect an object leaning at that angle to look, compared to one that isn't leaning? Do you think you would be able to tell the difference, when the object is 40 miles away?

[ - ] I_am_baal 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 22:43:33 ago (+1/-0)

I get the feeling that this explanation needs to be broken down even further for the flattards. Another useful way of expressing it is 40 24,900ths of a circle or .16% of a complete circle, .578 degrees. It's not something a person would be able to discern.

[ - ] big_fat_dangus [op] 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 20:25:41 ago (+2/-1)

It's an issue of scale and distance. Same reason the moon appears to follow you when driving.

[ - ] AryanPrime 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 21:47:17 ago (+2/-1)

stop trying to give your shitty non existent argument you started the post with weight by including things that have nothing to do with the photo

You are not talking about the moon, you are talking about windmills a couple miles off the coast...the very water inbetween these two objects sits at level "minus wave formation" which aren't 40 feet high

If this was a video and you zoomed in you would literally see everything you say about this is bullshit

Holy shit I had never heard that angle but it makes sense they should appear to be leaning back and you should be able to calculate the angle using math and science not the (((trust the science))) type of science trying to get you to reject God but good ol white man science

[ - ] Not_C 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 9, 2023 16:38:09 ago (+0/-0)

They don't tilt or angle backwards because the picture is an optical illusion.

EVERYTHING we see, or photograph, is light that has travelled through different densities of air.
The light reflecting off of those windmills is being refracted. EVERYTHING that we see is being refracted to varying degrees.

Anything that appears to be directly in front of your face, will be slightly higher, or lower, than what it appears. Very slightly.
But anything far, far off in the distance can be refracted quite a lot.

Take the floating boat illusion for example.
Cold Air + Warm Water = Floating Boat Illusion.
Examples here - https://www.creativebloq.com/news/floating-ship-optical-illusion

Change the air densities, and you can make the light refract in the other direction and the optical illusion will cause the boats (or windmills) to appear to sink.

Anyone who uses what they "see" as evidence of the Earth being flat or spherical is a gullible idiot who doesn't understand that everything we "see" is light that has been distorted because it has travelled through varying densities of gasses.

[ - ] Inward -2 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 21:00:29 ago (+2/-4)

[ - ] GloryBeckons 2 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 21:25:54 ago (+2/-0)

Nothing wrong with asking a question, and this isn't an unreasonable one. He's absolutely right about things "leaning back"... they do. It's just by such a small amount that it isn't noticeable.

[ - ] AryanPrime 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 21:44:45 ago (+2/-1)

don't start trying to bring math into this, you will lose

[ - ] Not_C 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 9, 2023 14:07:11 ago (+0/-0)*

I am neither a globetard nor a flattard. I am someone with common sense.

And common sense will tell us that we look at the horizon, mountains, windmills, everything through the air (gasses).
And more importantly, different densities of gasses.

Cold Air + Warm Water = Floating Windmill illusion.
Meanwhile the opposite densities will flip it.
Warm Air + Cold Water = Sinking Windmill illusion.

Here are examples of what is called the floating ship illusion. Which is created by refraction and differing densities.

https://www.creativebloq.com/news/floating-ship-optical-illusion

The illusions of floating ships and sinking windmills DO NOT prove the Earth is flat, nor do they prove the Earth is round.
Everything we see at a distance will be distorted. Because we are always looking through differing densities of gasses.

Now Dangus, apologise to everyone for being a gullible idiot who didn't understand that this is an optical illusion, and then arguing about it.

[ - ] MasklessTheGreat 1 point 2 yearsMay 13, 2023 21:57:33 ago (+1/-0)

Finaly at least you globetards posted something that looks like actual evidence instead of your usual commie jew tactics of muddying the waters, name calling, emotional attacks, brigading, straw man bullshit arguments etc.

Now I will read the comments to see if this is legit evidence or not and btw

The flattards as you call them would be happy to see and hear new evidence and run test ya know use the scientific method not (((trust the science)))

Refraction - https://files.catbox.moe/bmyld8.jpg

The air has moisture in it. That causes refraction.

It's why anyone who says, "The Earth looks flat, therefore it is flat" - They're just proving they're gullible idiots for trusting their eyes. And are too stupid to take other things into consideration.

It's the same with people who say, "The Earth looks round, therefore it is round" - They're just proving they're gullible idiots for trusting their eyes. And are too stupid to take other things into consideration.

[ - ] Doglegwarrior 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 9, 2023 09:55:37 ago (+0/-0)

Hypothetical... the earth is round because we look at the moon and it looks round and other things in the sky. If we had unlimited power and we went up and cut the moon into a cube would everyone think thr earth was a cube then?

I'm part joking

[ - ] Not_C 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 9, 2023 13:46:53 ago (+0/-0)*

If we had unlimited power and we went up and cut the moon into a cube would everyone think thr earth was a cube then?

Well.... not necessarily. That's a bit of a false equivalency for this.

The sphere/flat debate is argued by people saying, "The horizon LOOKS flat" Or, "the windfarm LOOKS like it disappears behind the horizon."
BOTH are gullible idiots who jump to their predetermined conclusions while being too stupid to realise that there could be countless reasons why things appear a certain way.

The windfarm example can be explained as Cold Water + Warm Air = Sinking Windmills.

The opposite of these examples which are explained as Warm Water + Cold Air = Floating Ships.
https://www.creativebloq.com/news/floating-ship-optical-illusion

EVERYTHING we see is distorted because we are looking at things through varying densities of gasses.

So examples of idiots saying that the Earth itself looks flat or spherical, would be different that saying something other than the Earth (like the moon) looks like a cube.
Because there are times where the Earth itself does look like a sphere, and other times it does look flat.

[ - ] Love240 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 19:21:36 ago (+3/-3)*

Hey bud, you've still got a problem here, a really big one; You shouldn't even be able to see the 'bottom of the' wind farm 'blades' from shore according to globe earth math.

https://files.catbox.moe/01iccp.jpg
https://files.catbox.moe/wnofft.jpg

The Thorntonbank Wind Farm is 27.68 km (30 km according to Wikipedia => 18.64 mi) from the nearest part of Belgium's shore at the Albert-II Dock.

https://files.catbox.moe/k8rutq.png

Again, because you don't get it; You shouldn't even be able to see the 'bottom of the' wind farm 'blades' from shore according to globe earth math.

EDIT: because not 'AT ALL', I was wrong about that. The image still shows too much blade for there to be a 'curvature' however.
original: "You shouldn't even be able to see the wind farm from shore AT ALL according to globe earth math."

[ - ] GloryBeckons 3 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 19:59:06 ago (+4/-1)*

Your first image assumes a sight level of 0, meaning you dug your camera into the sand, right at the shoreline, so that the aperture is just barely peeking out at exactly water level. Because, if you lift the camera, it can see further. Just like you can see further if you stand up or go to a higher vantage point. Which that formula conveniently ignores.

An absurd scenario. But hey, let's roll with it!

Let's even give it a distance of a nice round 20 miles, instead of 18.64 mi. What the hell.

According to that table, which you yourself posted as proof, at 20 miles there is an apparent drop of 266.74 feet. Again, that's if you stick your eye halfway into the water at sea level. But fine, whatever, 266.74 foot drop it is.

The windmills at Thorntonbank Wind Bank have a hub height of 95 m (312 ft) and a rotor diameter of 126 m (413 ft). See here.

Now, which of the two is greater, 266.74 ft or 312 ft (+ however much the rotor blades are sticking out above)? Show your work!

Tip: You could also subtract 266.74 from 312, and see if the result is less than zero! Don't forget to carry those ones! What do you think it means if the result is greater than zero?

[ - ] Her0n 2 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 20:53:27 ago (+3/-1)

Flat earthers can't understand basic algebra

[ - ] Love240 -1 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 20:13:04 ago (+3/-4)

So if there is 266.74 feet of drop, you would never be able to see the bottom tip of that first wind mill rotor.

Rotor diameter = 126 m (413 ft) => Rotor radius = 207 ft, Hub height (312 ft) - Rotor radius (207 ft) = 105 ft from the ocean surface, minus 266.74 feet of drop and it's 161.74 feet under the horizon.

This image is obviously distorted, yet it clearly indicated that the earth is not curved, even from that nearest wind mill.

[ - ] GloryBeckons 2 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 20:55:54 ago (+3/-1)*

Very good. That's all correct.

Or it would be, if the camera was dug into the sand at exactly sea level.

From the angle of the water, especially towards the bottom of the photo, as it approaches the viewer, does it look like the camera is at sea level? Or does it look like it is significantly above sea level?

As you raise the point from which you are observing, the horizon grows further away, and apparent drop of objects in the distance decreases. Even flat earthers acknowledge this, as far as I know. There's a nice calculator, with detailed explanations of the math involved, here: https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/earth-curvature

If you plug in our distance of 20 miles, and then play around with the Eyesight Level, you'll see just how much of an effect this has. With that distance of 20 miles, an elevation of 37 feet is enough to reduce the drop to less than the 105 ft required. If we use a distance of 18.64 miles, an elevation of only 25 feet would be more than enough.

Anything between 25 and 37 feet seems reasonable to me, given the angle of the water in the photo. Don't you think?

[ - ] Love240 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 21:25:28 ago (+2/-2)

These 'If' statements are speculation. So if we were to speculate, this image was probably taken from a small vessel at sea, and their relative position due to the difference in wave heights actually puts them nearly at or even below the average sea level at the exact moment the camera aperture clicked.

Your calculator doesn't work for negative elevation, or zero, even.

[ - ] GloryBeckons 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 21:37:13 ago (+2/-2)

Okay, now you're being deliberately unreasonable. That is clearly a very calm sea, with some minor wind ripples, not massive roiling waves that would put a vessel below sea level. Nigger, please.

[ - ] AryanPrime -1 points 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 21:49:46 ago (+2/-3)

no you are trying to gaslight people with less then basic fucking math skills

just face it kike, the curvature equation has been disproven in multiple locations around the planet on multiple occasions...water finds it's own level, you can not have "optical illusions" creating differences in appearance on a flat water surface, it would create realitvely the same effect for all...this is due to vanishing point, this was obvious 20 years ago when faggot bill nye tried to push "over the horizon" on his stupid science show and got exposed.

[ - ] Hobama 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 9, 2023 03:27:18 ago (+0/-0)

[ - ] AryanPrime 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 8, 2023 21:53:03 ago (+2/-1)

"very tall structures dissapear bottom first"

Because of the "vanishing point" effect, caused by the fact you have 2 eyes creating a binocular vision effect...the same effect that, if you stand at the end of a long straight hallway, it looks like it's coming to a singular point, even though the walls are all perfectly flat and perpendicular

Shut the fuck up you dirty kike filth trying to project your own kike filthyness onto other people who expose you as the dirty untermench you are

hiding flat earth hides the truth about God from White people, the truth about them being the real Israelites, and the fact you kike filth are waging a blood libel against the Israelites, aka the Aryan race.
