Turns out, when people start posting their actual opinions online without anonymity, others take offense and respond violently IRL.

For example, state that you don't think kids should be allowed to have their dicks chopped off without parental consent, attach your name to it, and come home from work one day to your house being burned down by some fuckwit tranny.
