I had an idea to create a bumper sticker that simply says to lose weight eat 500 calories a day or less with absolutely no exercise.

The fact is most people have no actual idea how to lose weight and believe that they must exercise to lose weight. And exercise has nothing to do with losing weight and. And they'll be a couple of idiots here who want to chime in and say it's a part of it or something else and it's nothing to do with losing weight. If you want to lose weight you have to eat less calories than your basil resting caloric burn every day which for most people is around a thousand to 1200 calories a day which you will burn even if you're sitting on the couch all day watching tv. And to lose weight in a substantial way that will make you continue to want to do it because you're going to see progress that's very rapid you have to get those calories down to below 500 a day. If you do that you'll be losing four or five pounds a week and you'll see it clearly and you'll actually want to stick with it.

Anyway it's because of this complete lack of knowledge about how to actually lose weight that I just thought some kind of a bumper sticker might be helpful to fight this just incredible plague of astounding obesity that we have now. I'm looking around seeing people with 45 and 50 inch waist all the time. People who can barely walk. People who look like troglodytes and don't even look human anymore. And if you ask anyone of them what they thought they would need to do to lose weight I guarantee you they would all say that they would have to exercise. They just don't know because they've been lied to their whole life.

So I really think there might be a place in the world for a bumper sticker and maybe somebody's got a better idea of how to sit in a shorter fashion but you got to give them details and you've got to tell them that they don't have to exercise and if you do that and you tell him they can watch TV and lose weight they just might do it. And we really have to get a handle on this because the medical costs associated with all these people being so overweight and having all their knees replaced and their hips replaced and their diabetes and all the other things that are going to be being paid for it's just going to be too much for society to bear.

The elephant in the room (pun intended) is HFCS (high fructose corn syrup).
It was approved for consumption by the FDA in 1983.
Spend five minutes looking at historical crowd pics pre 1980 and compare them to what you see on the street today.
That shit is in everything that's 'processed' on the supermarket shelves.
It's poison.
It was created to be a substitute for sugar because there were price controls in place to prop up domestic sugar production and laws to limit or ban cheap imported sugar.
As always, it was all about (((profit))).

Wrote a post asking for stuff like this a while ago. This is exactly the kind of info I wanted.

Yeah but it's also the addition of that and other forms of sugar in just about everything we eat. And the amount of calories most people get just from drinking a couple of sodas a day is more than 500 calories. So while high fructose corn syrup has its own problems the actual problem is way too many calories in sugar of all forms. For example people talk about natural sugar and natural brown sugar being okay. No that's like saying heroin that's not fully processed is okay. Sugar is an extremely concentrated carbohydrate that is artificially concentrated in literally the same way they concentrate cocaine. There are no good forms of sugar. And you should never ever eat it.

I agree with every word you wrote.

I fucked my back up and was couch ridden for several months. Not much of an appetite, ate once a day...1200 calories or so. I gained like 30 pounds in those few months

Yeah 1200 calories is too much for the average resting person. The recommended daily calorie intake for Americans is far too much. I found if I didn't get below 900 calories a day I didn't lose weight.

The 500 calorie a day thing comes from the HGC diet which includes daily shots. If you did it without the shots, it would still work. It’s about the 500 calories. The shots just help you not get weak and have headaches.

[ - ] Crackinjokes [op] 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 29, 2023 10:35:16 ago (+0/-0)

Shots? You don't need any shots

You don't get headaches or get weak unless you've eaten a whole bunch of carbohydrates the day before you decide to rock it into this diet and your body is having radical insulin swings. What you need to do is first cut out the carbs and do that for a few days. Then go to the 500 calories a day diet. And your body is going to take 2 days to start converting your fat into energy. And during that 2-day period is going to be the hardest time you have and you might get a headache or two which is why I recommend people start this on a Friday afternoon during the weekend so that on Saturday and Sunday you can do nothing but sit around and drink water and avoid any strenuous activity until your body has started to convert into a fat burning machine.

Well it appears a whole lot of people here need to see this bumper sticker as well. Because most of them are miseducated as you read through the comments. Honestly I'm a little surprised at that because this is usually a pretty smart group.

Firstly, what you are saying works, it's just incredibly stupid.

Now that being said, I did that and it comes with consequences. My blood acid levels rose to the point of inducing gout, which is extremely painful and entirely unnecessary.

It doesn't matter if you switch to an appropriate diet to limit your purine intake, the purines are already in you. It's in the fat. Every pound you are burning you're putting those purines back into your blood stream.

You should not do this kind of extreme dieting for a prolonged period. If you are going to do this, I would recommend only intermittently dropping your caloric intake that low (or just fasting) for no more than 3 days at a time, and rather, keep your intake at ~75-80% of your caloric needs the majority of the time if possible to help lower your weight more gradually.

This also builds a healthy routine, re-acclimating you to a proper meal-size and a more regular schedule.

Plus, I've found limiting yourself to 'never having sweets' or a 'cheat snack' is setting yourself up for failure. You're going to break your rules, so just keep them simpler and just limit how often you can have sweets, or limit them to a specific time of the day and if you miss that time-window, there's always tomorrow. (until there's not, believe on the Lord Jesus!)

Yeah and my guess is you didn't actually lose the weight did you. Because let me tell you something if you a lie yourself to have some sugar you're going to be hooked on that sugar just like you injected heroin into your veins. The best way to avoid the problem of cycling diet is to never ever let a bite of sugar in your mouth in any form shape or means.

So just what exactly do you mean by"-acclimating you to a proper meal-size"

Well if you're logical I can tell you what you mean. You mean a meal with less calories. And preferably those calories aren't all from carbs.

I'm sorry you had a problem with gout but that has nothing to do with the diet that I would eat which is fish and Chicken and a little bit of vegetables and some butter everyday and that'll give you 500 calories and you'll drop poundage every day without exercise and because of the dense nature of the tuna fish and the chicken breast and the lack of carbs in the diet you're not going to be crazy hungry because you're insulin levels aren't going to be Rocky up and down which is the primary cause of hunger..

Anyway I've heard your type say the same kind of thing and it's always the same people who never lose weight.

Let me tell you what's far worse than gout. So lacking your arteries everyday from too much blood sugar in your blood as it surges from the calories or the little bit of sugar you eat. And it irritates your artery walls which then have to repair themselves which then gets shellacked with a gummy mess including calcium which breaks off later and gives you a heart attack in your later years.

So your gout probably came from too much red meat.

I lost 100 lbs. You don't know what you're talking about.

[ - ] Crackinjokes [op] -1 points 1.9 yearsJun 29, 2023 10:39:45 ago (+0/-1)

"You should not do this kind of extreme dieting for a prolonged period."

You should do it until you get down to a healthy weight.

No more no less. When you reach your target weight start eating about 900 to 1200 calories a day. More if you exercise a lot but if you're the average desk and couch potato in America you're going to gain weight if you eat really more than about 900 calories a day. The human body is very efficient and literally can survive on a tiny handful of food. Literally the amount of food that is in your fist is pretty much all your body needs unless you're doing extreme activity.

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim 2 points 1.9 yearsJun 28, 2023 04:55:39 ago (+2/-0)

I had to return to say 500 cal a day is pretty extreme. At that level intake you're going to be getting almost no protein. Which will cause a loss of the muscle tissue they do have.

Your plan may technically work, but it's far from ideal and a professional would probably call it dangerous.

[ - ] Crackinjokes [op] 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 29, 2023 10:29:56 ago (+0/-0)

Well number one a professional would include all those people in the medical industrial complex who of course do not want you to lose weight because then you're going to be healthy and they certainly don't want you to know that if you eat less food including less sugar you're going to not have half the problems that send you to the doctor. So of course they're not going to tell you this.

As far as protein consumption goes the average person doesn't need a lot of protein. But I didn't say where the 500 calories a day came from. When I lost weight I ate a can of tuna in water everyday and some chicken at night. You're going to find that protein is extremely dense but has few calories. So you can eat a ton of protein without making your calories go up. If you don't believe me look at the side of a can of tuna fish in water. Better yet I'll look at one right now and tell you what it says. Chunk light tuna and water 5 oz. One serving 1/3 cup that's how much is in a can. It's 18 g of protein. And it's 80 calories. So if you wanted to eat 500 calories you could eat six of those and get 120 g of protein if you wanted to and absolutely no carbs. And your body would be forced to burn fat to make up for the no carbs.

By the way eat only chunk light tuna and never fancy albacore tuna. Chunk light tuna is actually a different smaller tuna fish and therefore does not have the Mercury concentrations that the big huge albacore Top sea predator has.

Let me help you out: fat people don't care. They don't care at all. None of this is a mystery. We've known all this for ages. Never ever give a fat person advice. They don't want it and won't use it even if they asked for it. They won't change what and how much they eat.

And exercise speeds weight loss. Not that it matters. They certainly aren't going on a slightly strenuous walk.

[ - ] observation1 4 points 1.9 yearsJun 28, 2023 02:55:06 ago (+4/-0)

I wonder how your sage advice compares to, say, somebody who lost 100 lbs and kept it off to see what those people recommend.

The old adage goes, if you want to know the fastest way to get somewhe just ask the one legged man.

[ - ] ScheduledSuicide 2 points 1.9 yearsJun 28, 2023 06:27:51 ago (+2/-0)

Which brings up the fastest way to lose weight: Cut off your leg!

[ - ] Sector7 1 point 1.9 yearsJun 28, 2023 10:42:10 ago (+1/-0)

Or travel south of the US border and have it done 'for you'.

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 28, 2023 12:39:07 ago (+0/-0)

Indeed. Don't ask a yuppie homesteader how to farm. Yo uask the white rural people (rednecks reeee).

[ - ] Crackinjokes [op] 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 29, 2023 10:26:59 ago (+0/-0)

Exactly the only way people who have actually lost weight ever have actually done it.

So if you actually asked people who actually lost weight they would all agree. And if you want to keep it off then you have to keep your calories down to about 1200 a day unless you're exercising like a maniac.
