His lawyers are screwing him over again. The perceptual damage to the election system (support of it, participation, the political stabilization effect of the perception that it is legitimate) is vastly superior to any damage that could or would be done in the courts.
In fact, if I were a betting man, I'd think he was advised to submit it to the court system so they can dismiss it out of hand--for the sake of the talking point, which is what they did in all prior attempts: ruled they had no standing, or sealed evidence, or didn't allow it to be examined at all.
His cited reason was that his lawyers asked judge for 2.5 years as prep time to use this specific evidence in trial. He has created leverage over the system.
He can go to the press anytime he doesn’t like a ruling.
