My mom has a bunch of containers with rye and she uses some electric miller or grinder thing to make flour from it. I'll ask her about it next time I talk to her if I remember.
All the bulk food stores sell it. You won't find it in the grocery store. You can usually find all your specialty flours like spelt and einkorn and rye and whatever else.

Can you buy the grain as if you were making booze and then grind it yourself? I used to drink plenty of rye but I can remember if they put it in beer as a generic cereal grain.
Home made bread is so much better than store bought. My dad used to make banana bread. Anyways, this isn't something about rye flour itself, but it might be worth trying to source some from France. Even allegedly organic flour in the U.S. has all sorts of pesticides in it due to jews jewing the legal definition of "organic". Most of the health problems people have with regular wheat flour are actually complications with the pesticides in them, not the flour itself, same goes for other forms of flour.
People in France eat all sorts of things that would cause an American to blow up like a blimp if the ingredients were sourced here, and things like gluten intolerance are practically non-existent there. It seems like they did something right and prevented jews from jewing their food system as hard.
Have you ever ordered a Rueben Sandwich! Rye bread, corn beef, sauerkraut. Each ingredient by itself is meh, but combine them into a good Reuben Sandwich and it’s flavor heaven!
Yes. I just dislike the taste, smell and texture of it. Add corned beef and sauerkraut and it's nearly as bad as the taste or smell of eggs to me. Kicks in my gag reflex every time. When I was a kid I tried to choke down eggs because that's what all the rest of the family enjoyed for breakfast. I just couldn't do it. Smelled nasty. Tasted nasty. Couldn't do it. A Rueben is not at that level but it's only a half step down for me.
How about club sandwiches? I’ll confess I wasn’t a fan of Rueben’s but they grew on me. Drunk at 2 am in Honolulu sitting in a Dennys. I was a full three sheets into the wind and ordered a Reuben. It was simply delicious. It didn’t cure my hangover but I remembered it the next day. I’ve ordered another Dennie’s Rueben and it was as good as I remembered. Now if I see a Reuben on a restaurants menu. I order it just to see if they can beat dennys. Oh my goodness they do!
I generally avoid club sandwiches on account of the mayo due to the egg taste. I can handle a small amount but too much mayo will make me vomit. It's a very fine line and I've learned not to test it. It's strange. I've known a few people who have the same reaction but it seems to be rather rare. I wish I liked eggs. I tried to force myself to like them to fit in when I was a kid but...I simply cannot do it. They smell gross and taste even worse to me. It pretty much ruins breakfast as a meal for because nearly everything revolves around eggs.
I’m sorry to hear that. I love eggs, hard boiled, scrambled, over easy. Love it. I wish I could share that pleasure with you. If I could cure you I would. I put mayo on just about everything. However, a slice of toast, with butter, two strips of bacon and a black coffee is one of my favorite breakfasts. Although I have cut all bread out of my diet.
I've seen it at Healthy Habit and Trader Joe's here. It's probably elsewhere too but still it's limited mostly to niche 'health' shops. I haven't bought any myself.
That's a really good question. I like rye bread but only occasionally because I'm American and my tastes go more for wheat flour. I can tolerate corn flour with some foods, as well as buckwheat, but for me having rye bread is a novelty.
People in the northern European countries have a preference for much heavier, seedier bread. Many grocery stores stock brands that feature darker grains and include several kinds of seeds for a nuttier kind flavor and texture. Unfortunately, I haven't found any that feature rye. If I could find any place that sold Rugbrød, I'd buy it in a second.

That’s what I’m trying to make. Been wanting to do if for years but the supplies don’t exist unless you are a baker and get a bag the size of animal feed. Or over pay through the nose trying to ship it from the internet.
Well, crap, that sounds incredibly frustrating. A few people here gave some (I hope) helpful ideas. I really enjoy good home made bread myself. Good luck.

Different grains need different climate and topographical specifics to have good yields.
