In the 90’s I worked as a game dev. The studio acquired 6 SGI Indigos. They were about 90k each. The IT guys were put in charge of making sure they weren’t stolen. They put chains around each Indigo and attached it to the floor. Now you can buy one for 100 bucks on EBay.
One of the nerds figured out that he could cause a single cricket chirp noise to emit from someone else’s machine. Most didn’t know these things had a speaker. He tormented an environment artist for the two year duration of the project. The guy spent hours searching his office for a cricket. Sounds lame now, in the early 90’s this was next level pranking.
