Dang! I still can't play guitar for very long, but I am told that my shoulder is healing well.

I'm doing my guitar theory workbook and trying to learn more about music so maybe my songs will improve, but we'll see!

I'll ask my PT guy tomorrow, but I reckon it is. Even if I never get full ROM back, which I doubt, as long as I get most of it and can comfortably play guitar and wear a sweater, I'll be happy. Previously, even the weight of a sweater or winter coat would weigh on my shoulder and it was painful. Just ten minutes walking with a coat on and it'd start hurting. Glad I got this surgery, I hope that it ends up being better off.

Working outside in WI in pain all day sucked - I handled it for several years but I'm not sure a 50+ year old me wants to deal with it. I think getting this surgery while I'm still relatively young (36) is best.

My surgeon told me I could stop wearing a sling, and should, as often as I can. Only putting it on if I'm very sore, or in social situations so people don't expect me to be 100%.

If you're 50 and have been working hard for 35 years, your body is going to start to break down. As you age, you're ideally going to enter a phase where you perform less manual labor.

For better or worse, this isn't always true.

So, yeah... Your body will be shot.

PT sucks. Man, it sucks. Are you doing things like walking your fingers up a wall and stuff like that?

These days I do work inside, as the q.c. coordinator for the company I'm at. Before that I had worked in the same company, but I did the electrical portion of our manufacturing. Mostly, I sat in a little cubby away from everyone, making wire harnesses for large machinery and vehicles.

I miss those days. I took the q.c. job because it was a promotion and was told it was a fast track to becoming a director and making the big bucks. I hate q.c., I think I could like it, but the training and boss fall short - and most of the people in my company believe the situation is bogus, I'd be happy to explain in a pm but it really isn't too interesting.

I am doing similar things, yes, and I have a rope running through a carabiner clipped into a buckle that stuck in the top of my closet doorjamb. I sit in a chair backed up to it and use the rope to "climb the ladder" and other various type of exercises.

I wouldn't play that guitar even if I was in one of the party funk bands. I've seen cool stuff, like giant revolver guitars. That's neat, and fitting for a party-funk band. BFD can keep that rig, though, I'm good.

I'd play that guitar IF I had no other guitar to play. I have issues going a day without playing. It's like an addiction and I practice every single day, almost without fail.

I've played with broken hands, fingers, and wrists. I've played in braces and casts. It's an addiction to me.

Well, it's that time of the year again. This time around, it's a surprise! We'll do a lot of this again this coming Friday, but it's time for the Christmas Friday Night Guitar Thread!

We've done a Christmas thread for a long, long time. There's no reason to stop now! In fact, given the circumstances, there's all the reasons in the world to do so again this year. After all, things have been rough for a bunch of us (especially in my neighborhood) and it's a fine time to celebrate.

As we all know, I'm not really your religious sort and the reason I celebrate the holiday is because of other people. I celebrate for them. It's a fine excuse to eat, drink, and be merry. It's a fine excuse to give gifts. Of course, it's a fine excuse to spend time with friends and family.

We didn't finish a 'major' project this year. Instead, we had Mother Nature fuck us pretty hard. It is what it is.

So, instead, I dusted off a few Christmas Carols and dug out a classical guitar. I didn't record the tracks back to back, so it took way too long to normalize them. If you listen carefully, there's even a slight microphone change. Still, the casual listener probably won't even notice!

Thanks. This year was a rushed job and I didn't record them right one after the other due to time constraints. It was weirdly hard to normalize them and get the same volume from both of them. The second one had people in the same room but they were quiet long enough to use the recording.

LOL Thanks. I happen to like Christmas carols when the time comes, so I know all of them.

Those were played on a lovely Yamaha GC-7 from 1968. It's not the best sounding classical guitar that I own, but it's one of my favorites. I've owned it from day zero. Other than the guitar store, I was the first owner.

It is worn and battered, but it still sounds more than acceptable. It's as familiar as a pair of old sneakers and worn in jeans. I reach for it more than I reach for guitars that moving on 10x its value. It might be worth 1.5 to 2k to the right buyer and I have fully vetted guitars worth much more than that. Still, it's an old friend. I have spent more hours with that guitar on my lap than I've spent doing almost everything else.

I'm so optimistic with regards to Starlink... The idea of 500 MB/sec is awesome to me. I guess uploads are nearly as quick. Because the satellites are closer to the surface, the lag isn't that bad. If you look up at the right time, you can see the satellites zoom overhead. I can see them to the south. Soon, so soon, they'll be going overhead at my house and I can get service!
