Well,first off,the idea of "black slave,white masters" is fiction. Both slaves and slave owners came in all colors. But mostly,it was the jews who owned the most slaves. Something like 60-70% of slave owners were jews. There's even a rumor that if a slave auction fell on a jewish holiday,they'd cancel it cause the bulk of the buyers wouldn't be there.
