I think I was further west, in central PA. Northish of Intercourse and Blue Ball, and close enough to the chocolate factory to smell it when the wind was from the west. East wind brought the delightful odor of cow shit from the neighbors farm.

The central Pa. dialect used today carries the harsh, guttural sound of a German speaker. It can be compared to the sound of a German speaker who learned English by listening to a Scottish person speak it.Jul 21, 2023
