Status Report

Well, I haven’t had to resort to selling my ass to old men in the back of limousines under the Queensboro bridge, but I haven’t been able to find a 2nd job with duties, pay and hours that work with my current schedule. It is looking a little grim. Yesterday, one place had a great schedule, but the place was 1 hour and 11 minutes from my home, so considering that I still have to get to another job, that would be too much traveling and would lead to exhaustion. A couple of people here suggested a go fund me type situation, but it has only been 3 weeks and I’m paying all of my bills—albeit barely, so no E-begging for me just yet.

Dental Bills are down to $4K and credit card is at $110. I just have to hope that no other expenses or issues come along any time soon.

Hang in there man. You're a smart, good-hearted guy. Something will come your way. Just hang in there. We're going in to tough times now, but I've pulled through some crazy tough times before. One foot in front of the other. Something will come up.

I know this is all just shallow platitudes, but somehow it's true. Guys like you and me (I'm an older big guy too) always get some sunshine.

Keep talking to Voat and Upgoat. Keep up with the NYC adventures. Maybe start exposing more of the weirdness. This video thing was good. And stories about how things used to be are good too. People need to hear this stuff and you are extremely authentic.

Honestly, if I were you, I'd get one of those cheap clip-on cameras what record all day - just to capture some of the ridiculous insanity you see around you. If I lived in the city again I certainly would.

Wish we were on the same coast.

As I'm not into defeatism, I'd suggest the glaringly obvious thing. If you hate living in NYC, maybe you should come up with a plan that enables you to leave. You've got access to the entirety of human knowledge with the internet and there are plenty of people who've left cities already and shared their story.

Maybe learn the plans they used and revise them for your own needs.

I love how much people on these boards hate NYC so much, that any problem/issue can automatically be overcome by leaving NYC. My mother is near here and she has no one. I wish you would all stop projecting your fears and desires onto me. We get it: You hate New York.

So your exit plan should include space for you mother. Mine is taken care of by one of her daughters who lives nearby, even though she has her own house.

It's more about who is near her than it is about the area. So long as she has you nearby to care for her, you can find other services, often for cheaper, elsewhere.
