Every company that is attempting this denial of service / repair of YOUR property should be boycotted.

Automobiles, Farm Equipment, Television, Phones, and other electronics are your property once paid in full.

Better yet! Drag their CEO out into the streets, beat them, then hang them!

Home ink-jet / laser printers are the worst of them all.

They price gouge the fuck out of people on ink cartridges, and force you to buy a new printer instead of offering hardware repairs.

Not laser printers. Cartridges last decades and cost like $30 to replace for my 40 year old laser printer.

I bet that your laser printer was produced prior to the price gouging efforts were put in place.

I bought this printer in 2014 on Craigslist. Paid $25 for it. It's Bitch to get setup (on Linux), but once it's setup, it's pretty bulletproof as far as connection & communication goes. Manufactured in July 2010, STILL runs like a CHAMP! Print quality is not bad, prints respectable resumes. Can get a little persnickity, every now & again, but nothing catastrophic. Cartridges are still available, a little pricey, but still much cheaper than a new printer.

Going "Retro," or "Home-built" on electronics will become much more popular in the near future.

Computers, TV's, Cameras, and etc. will be much more desirable after they clamp down even harder on corporate power-grabs on products after purchase.

I imagine that they know this, and they will come up with some "old electronics plastics leach out cancer causing carcinogens" campaign to scare normies, into "recycling" all their old treasures!

That's what "Cash for Clunkers" was all about.

Pay people to give up their old vehicles that could be self-serviced, and get them locked into newer GPS trackable, and remotely disabled.

Bang-on! And idiots did just that!

There's already a market for it.

This is the new plan. They want you to lease EVERYTHING and be in perpetual slavery. Your car, your home, your appliances, your phone—eventually they predict even the clothes on your back will be leased through a state laundry service and drone-dropped every week.

Literally "You will own nothing, and like it."

I installed an HP printer at work the other day that came from a managed services provider. I couldn't get the dumbfuck thing to work worth a damn. The end user wanted it connected via USB. Easy peasy, or so you'd think.

Wouldn't work for shit, UNTIL I connected it to a network. Instantly started working as normal.

All I can figure is that it wanted to call back to some HP server in Bangladesh or something, even though it wasn't going to be used as a network printer.

The support rep at the managed services provider definitely voiced his frustration with HP products.

They're shit. I hope I live long enough to see that company go out of business.

Been there, Done that! I was loading drivers on printers in the late 80's and through the 90's, before print drivers were Plug N Pray!. Drove me nuts, because it became personal (between me & an inanimate object (the printer).)

Many days it could have been! Although sometimes I was really fighting DOS, OS/2, or Novell issues.

The Epson printer I had ran out of ink so I bought non epson refills for it a few times. Two years later after a software update the printer no longer worked so I called Epson.

The rep said the reason it was not printing is that I tried to use non epson cartridges and I then explained that it had been doing just fine with them for the past two years. Silence.

Never again.

All the cool kids use Brother products because they don't pull that shit.
Inkjet users get what they deserve anyway

Are you sure? I know Brother is compromised too.
