I’m actually doing okay at life now.

submitted by Gigglestick to whatever 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 07:25:42 ago (+83/-0)     (whatever)

I used to be a cook. Didn’t really enjoy my work, felt like I was just wasting away at a career I didn’t want to be in while other people were doing better things, imo.

So I changed. I started an electrical apprenticeship and people seem happy with me so far as I’ve been doing it for a month. I also part time cook/serve/bartend at a local watering hole. I’m actually enjoying my life right now.

My next steps are to get sober for a year at least, get my license back, and get a house. Hopefully I’ll find a decent woman in that span of time, but idk dudes.

Anyway frens, gm. Haff gud dey

Edit: 31 if anyone is curious

When we’re working on bettering ourselves, people notice and they'll be drawn to you.
Good for you for stepping out there and making an effort. I came up in the trades and we window/glass guys used to always comment how we “should have become electricians”, they’re the highest paid guys on the jobsite, they are never out of work, and they are rarely dirty at the end of the day.
Good move!

[ - ] Centaurus 9 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 10:30:39 ago (+9/-0)

Now, whenever I see an electrician on a jobsite, I will walk up to him and whisper, "Is that you, OP?"

[ - ] Peleg 8 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 11:13:33 ago (+8/-0)

"psst. hey pal, do you Gigglesticks?"

And that's how @Centaurus got his ass kicked And named a faggot at work! 🤣🤣

HAAA!

[ - ] Gigglestick [op] 6 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 14:04:54 ago (+6/-0)

Thanks bro, I think I made a good choice, a little late but whatever

[ - ] Centaurus 3 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 14:34:19 ago (+3/-0)

They aren't the highest paid guys on a jobsite. Most of the trades are within a few bucks of each other, unless you are a crane operator or one of the assholes who build the elevators.

[ - ] Belfuro 3 points 6 monthsApr 5, 2024 00:41:11 ago (+3/-0)

To succeed men just need to progress.

As God commands.

How to progress?

Just be honest. If you lie about your mistakes you'll never instead try to do better.

And stop wasting time. Porn, video games, social media etc.

[ - ] clymer 12 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 09:38:35 ago (+12/-0)

You sound relatively young. You cannot go wrong learning a trade. Once you have skills, you can always make money with it. If you lost your license as a result of impaired driving, get and stay sober. You will never regret staying sober, but you will regret falling off of the wagon, should you do something stupid. I was in construction from a young age (16) and although I have since picked up computer skills and gone in a different direction, career-wise, I have built three houses for myself over the years.I kind of wish I had more in the way of plumbing skills, I am getting up there in years and would hate to have to roof a house to survive at this stage of my life, LOL. Seems you can never locate a good plumber, but electrical is also a great skill to develop

[ - ] Gigglestick [op] 5 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 14:02:32 ago (+5/-0)

I’m 31 right now, started the trade a little later than I would have liked. I still have time for kids .

[ - ] paul_neri -2 points 6 monthsApr 5, 2024 20:32:35 ago (+0/-2)

Forget the kids. Life is mostly pain and we should not be handing it on.

[ - ] paul_neri 0 points 6 monthsApr 5, 2024 20:30:41 ago (+0/-0)

Metoo - "wish I had more in the way of plumbing skills". I find plumbing more benign and interesting than electrical matters (Poof! You're dead!) albeit electricity is magic.

[ - ] mannerbund 10 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 09:56:30 ago (+10/-0)

I've found that it is important, for those with an active mind, to have a career that makes you think, grow, and adapt.

Cooking, cashiering, etc occupy your body, but not your mind- it leaves you empty in side.

Keep learning, and keep putting one foot in front of the other towards your goals. The more fun you have, the quicker you'll get there too.

This is gay but the good kind of gay

[ - ] dulcima 9 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 09:48:48 ago (+9/-0)

Gay positive.

[ - ] Centaurus 9 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 10:27:25 ago (+9/-0)

Let's hope OP survives his first electrocution. 🤞

[ - ] Fishsticksforever 3 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 21:04:10 ago (+3/-0)

Electrocution is death via electricity, I think you mean shocked.

[ - ] Centaurus 1 point 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 21:48:18 ago (+1/-0)

He could be revived. :p

[ - ] paul_neri 0 points 6 monthsApr 5, 2024 20:36:47 ago (+0/-0)

Not necessarily:

"the injury [or killing] of someone by electric shock."

[ - ] paul_neri 0 points 6 monthsApr 5, 2024 20:35:11 ago (+0/-0)

My thoughts too. No matter how careful you are with electricity you'll always make a mistake which could be...the one!

[ - ] Gigglestick [op] 3 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 14:03:25 ago (+3/-0)

No aids gay

[ - ] Leveraction 9 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 10:59:43 ago (+9/-0)

Stay sober! Make that the most important aspect of your life! Your clear mind will help you stay focused on your goals!

[ - ] paul_neri 1 point 6 monthsApr 5, 2024 20:39:17 ago (+1/-0)

Yes. Our bodies try and help us. We should not make it hard for them!

[ - ] Centaurus 7 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 10:25:28 ago (+7/-0)

You are going to need that license.

[ - ] Gigglestick [op] 5 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 14:07:01 ago (+5/-0)

Yeah, thankfully they don’t allow apprentices to drive their first years

[ - ] Centaurus 5 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 14:31:30 ago (+5/-0)

Good for you. This is the start of your new life, so I wish you good luck.

[ - ] HelenHighwater 7 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 09:43:33 ago (+7/-0)

set small, attainable goals and don't be afraid to make mistakes. You got this. Every obstacle is temporary.

[ - ] paul_neri -1 points 6 monthsApr 5, 2024 20:52:53 ago (+0/-1)

"set small, attainable goals". Yes. One of my goals is to encourage the people here to be more pro-Israel and less racist.

[ - ] Peleg 5 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 11:23:04 ago (+5/-0)

If you really want to be an electrician you'd better give up the drinking. Drinking tends to make people shake. Shaky hands and electricity don't work well with each other.

[ - ] con77 1 point 6 monthsApr 5, 2024 22:44:38 ago (+1/-0)

Good for you man.
Get out of the restaurant bar industry.
Electrician is a good trade. Concentrate on that.
Sober? Start doing pushups every day.
There was a time when I did 400 a day. Talk about a confidence booster!
Keep up the good work. Want to meet a good woman? Go to church. I'll pray for you. Good luck!

[ - ] Cunt 4 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 12:40:46 ago (+4/-0)

Good to hear you're on the up and up, keep going!

[ - ] JustALover 4 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 12:36:32 ago (+4/-0)

Loicense? Butter knife, driver or electrical?

At any rate, try to cross-train. Don't just go to a job site, do the electrical and then leave. Speak to the carpenters, the painters and the drywallers. Learn how they like to work. Work with them.

Then you become a general contractor, and spend your time working larger jobs, but with tons of contacts.

[ - ] NeonGreen 4 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 10:05:40 ago (+4/-0)

Good for you man. Keep up the good work and I hope the future is bright for you.

What’s that?

[ - ] Sunman_Omega 3 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 15:24:13 ago (+3/-0)

It's a chick that's always looking for a "better option" and will dump you if she perceives another man as being "superior" and/or "richer".

It would not be a bad way to retire.

Yeah I like the part time aspect and not the full time.

Good job man. Keep stringing those wins together. The next one always comes easier than the last. You just have to get the ball rolling in the right direction and maintain your focus. Getting that ball rolling from a standstill is most often the hardest part.

[ - ] paul_neri 0 points 6 monthsApr 5, 2024 20:26:00 ago (+0/-0)

Pleased for you dude. I realise we've had harsh words in the past that, on calm reflection, you've come to regret but you've got strength of character to look after yourself particularly cutting back on the booze. None of us should be abusing our bodies because our body is trying to look after us, keep us healthy, and yet we poison it with smoke, alcohol and other drugs, and too many calories.Insane!

Good for you. I'm going to give some unwelcome advice.

Shit is going pretty good for you right now, as you are concentrating on one thing.

I'm not saying that you can't do more, what I am going to say is focus on your apprenticeship, and getting your license back.

When that is accomplished, and you've been working a while, then you can think about pussy or a house. The old saying of don't put the horse in front of the cart applies here brother.

Alcoholics/ Degenerates generally go ahead and bunch it all together and then can't figure out why they never can succeed, and then go drink/drug themselves into a frenzy which generally precludes them from achieving any of their dreams, yet ensures their life is a nightmare.

I wish you the best. Focus on the things that matter in the day.

You can always jerk off or buy a whore. Achieving a skill, and being able to perform that skill (having a fucking license) is of more worth to you than anything else right now.

[ - ] TheNoticing 0 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 19:25:28 ago (+0/-0)

Hopefully I’ll find a decent woman in that span of time

One thing at a time. She'll lead you to drink yourself to death anyway.

[ - ] SteppingRazor 0 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 18:45:26 ago (+0/-0)

Good for you. Once you start making good decisions and not fucking up then it does get easier.
You made the right decision to stop cooking full time, I got out of that industry long ago even though I had a culinary degree.
Choosing the right woman will also make or break your life, so don’t just take any that come along.

[ - ] Doglegwarrior 0 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 10:20:16 ago (+2/-2)

Don't think of drinking as a genetic jew created disease.. like anything you have the power the control. Don't get drunk learn to have one or two beers. Or if you want to get drunk then plan ahead have a ride home etc... it's when you let jew psychologist and the jew medical industry tell you it's a disease when it becomes an issue

Do you realize how much beer the Germans were drinking while creating the most powerfull millitary force ever created?

Now weed don't touch that commie gay shit

[ - ] Gigglestick [op] 2 points 6 monthsApr 4, 2024 15:15:08 ago (+2/-0)

The Vikings drank a lot of mead too. It was from when I was young and dumb. I’m good with my booze. Plus I don’t want to get liver disease.

Dont listen to this retard. Alchohol crosses the blood brain barrier and wrecks your brain, in any amount. If you want a short life ending with dementia, listen to dogfartshithead.

dude! I'm impressed with your words: "It's not good for your body and therefore is not good for the person" because they make a lot of sense and...echo my wise words. Our f..king bodies are trying to keep us alive and healthy and we seem to do our best to make it hard for them by ingesting poisons and coating our organs with flab.

Alcohol is terrible for your brain you retard. If you drink that explains a lot.
The Germans also LOST that war.
