Carbon is just an element. Like all elements, it can be captured, concentrated, and manipulated. There are no alien planets. The old world understood the workings of matter and was not bamboozled by the jewish relativity and space fantasy bullshit. They could build massive structures out of massive stone with such precision that we can't replicate today because of their understanding. Electricity is just chemistry. Alchemy is chemistry, if you tried to answer the question as to why things happen and not just what happens.

Trees do the same thing for free and far more efficiently. Plus you can build stuff with them and burn them for heat. This just sounds like a scam that will eventually evolve into recycling carbon, converting it back into fuel at an exorbitant cost for the sole purpose of recycling more carbon. Pretty neat perpetual money machine if you can get governments to write the checks. And, of course, they will happily do so whilst claiming victory over climate change until the next devious scheme comes around.
