I used to measure shit for a living. Using CMMs and all kinds of M&TE.
The only people that would argue FOR metric were autistic engineers who had never fabricated a thing in their life. US customary system is more human. I am going to measure 1 foot not 304.8 millimeters with a tape. And no you can’t combine in metric. So if you are building a large peace of equipment and the engineers decided to use millimeters on their print, all of a sudden your print is nothing but numbers in the thousands.

As someone who works in both decimal imperial is ok but i still prefer metric. Its when imperial goes into fractions it becomes a nightmare.

As someone who works on shit. It should all goddamn be metric. Just stripping out bolt heads and not accepting the better system for use on all our shit.
I keep a mechanic toolset in my trunk, but all my impact rated stuff is metric. Metric is just easier to use and better imo.

If you ever did more than throw a wrenchs and play expensive Legos out of car parts. You'd know being able easily multiply and divide by three makes the job of actually engineering things to do extraordinary things alot easier to do by hand.
