Happened to me once only without accident. Was first in line to go after a light turned green. Something told me to look left, instead; so I did. No reason for it, but didn't seem like the car was intending on stopping. So I sat there like a goon holding up traffic.

Sure as hell, the car ran that sonuvabitch worse than anyone has seen.

I figure it would have hit the car behind me is how slowly it all unfolded. (That and because that particular car I owned had a tendency to get me to jackrabbit start everywhere.) So, somebody got saved that day.

Drove away wondering if other drivers even noticed how damn miraculous that was.

I always look both ways at fresh green lights and generally at stale ones if there's not already traffic sitting there.

I mean we all lived through covid - "people are fucking idiots" used to be an expression, but ever since then we've got ironclad proof that is the case.

Its crazy how the universe will step in like that. We were supposed to go visit family for Christmas when we bought our house, well for some reason I didn’t feel like making the 7 hour trip and we stayed home instead. Well, the 26th we had really high winds and tons of rain. The house we bought had a gas water heater but was switched to an electric unit by the previous owner. Well the flue was still there and the rain came in and started an electrical fire. I smelled the burning wire and got to work. I had the fire out and power off and was desmoking the house when the fd showed up. We would have lost everything had i made the trip.

The reality is that I expect someone to ram into me every day. People in my city no longer bother to make a stop at red lights, so it's just a matter of time before people die.

I doubt anyone survived that. Just because a light turns green doesn't mean to go. It means to look and observe before you move one inch. Its what I tell my kids and I taught my wife this over 25 years ago.

I pulled a dying driver out of a burning car by myself because the only other person onsite was too busy recording video from his phone.
I cant stand these fucktards who are more concerned with the video than the person.
The dash cam loops, the recording will survive for hours, perhaps days depending on memory. Get the fuck out of the car and render aid.
