Been using GIMP for years. No complaints.

[ - ] GreenSaint 0 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 23:30:46 ago (+0/-0)

Ok. Gimp. I think they might try a slight name change.

[ - ] SecretHitler 1 point 10 monthsJun 7, 2024 03:38:11 ago (+1/-0)

True story I recommended it to a guy in a wheelchair once who was asking if there was a free PS alternative. I was like sorry bro that's just what it's called give it a try.

[ - ] SecretHitler 7 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 13:56:53 ago (+7/-0)

I love open source and linux and have used gimp enough to make things with it, but let's be honest here it's trash interface and workflow have always held it back from being usable for productive work.

What do you use it for? Even basic stuff like managing layers is not efficient. I've tried to learn "the gimp way" but a lot of stuff there isn't a "gimp way" to do it quickly.

[ - ] Belfuro 2 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 16:27:18 ago (+3/-1)

Don't be that loser from 2021. But muh job meant I had to take the shots.

Be a fucking man.
That means have conviction.

Adobe shows that it hates you and will harm you.

Stop whining and use gimp. Because you have no other choice. Adobe products are not an option to men with conviction.

Or take more shots, wear masks, use photoshop.

[ - ] NeonGreen 0 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 18:25:18 ago (+0/-0)

Or fucking pirate it. How about that?

[ - ] GreenSaint 3 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 23:31:42 ago (+3/-0)

I like torrenting stuff. It’s so fun. The world at your fingertips. I am having trouble finding a couple things though. Your nudes, maybe you could just send the em straight to my inbox. Thanks

[ - ] Belfuro 0 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 20:47:33 ago (+0/-0)

Good luck with that.
Cs6? Earlier?

[ - ] NeonGreen 1 point 10 monthsJun 7, 2024 06:32:06 ago (+1/-0)

I'm sure the earlier version are available.

However you're trying to say the creative cloud stuff is not released you are wrong.

I've run these. I use them in production and pay all of $6 a month specifically to use the AI tools on Lightroom.

How am I doing that? Register CC in Turkey.

But before I was in production or needing bleeding edge feature releases I ran pirated CC.

yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

[ - ] SecretHitler 0 points 10 monthsJun 7, 2024 03:32:00 ago (+0/-0)

Funny you mention shots. The last time I used gimp it was to make fake vaccine cards for me and my friends when everyone was refusing business to the unvaxed.

Also there are other alternatives that don't suck. Someone mentioned Krita and there were 3 or 4 other ones I was looking at a few months ago.

Idk man. I'm not saying it can't be done and it'll still look good. It just takes so much longer and induces UX rage for me.

[ - ] Stonkmar 1 point 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 20:35:42 ago (+1/-0)

Today I ate wings and watched a guy service a Golden Tee video game. It runs on linux

[ - ] uvulectomy 0 points 10 monthsJun 7, 2024 02:08:25 ago (+0/-0)

Nonsense!

Alright everyone, welcome to my getting started with GIMP tutorial. To start off, we're going to need a square. So go to File > Import and go to your shapes folder and sudo get your square. If for some reason you don't have your standard shapes folder yet, simply run the python script. You can get a torrent of it down below (the tar is much bigger than the py script). Then we're going to fill it in red. I like to use vim to edit my color temperature file but you can use whatever you want. Once you've defined red, type z!3 in the console to fill the square. Make sure the square is located at -1, -1. Hold down Ctrl+~ and use the W,A,S,D keys to move it if you need to. This way you can do all your fills without putting in the coordinates. Then we're going to type "Hello world!" into the square. Select the paintbrush tool in order to paint the text. Click anywhere along the edge of the square when you see the "!" icon and just start typing (simple!). Almost forgot--the reason you're seeing a bunch of question marks is because we didn't load the fonts yet! So grab you .gt3 file (or convert a standard font file) and and go to Settings > Preferences > Drawing > Text Modes and in "Render Base" type in the file name, making sure to escape the slashes. Then sit back and be amazed at how powerful GIMP is while still being totally free!

Hmmm, that does sound easier than what I was doing I'll give it another try.

People pay for photoshop?

[ - ] Cantaloupe 2 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 20:05:02 ago (+2/-0)

Always used gimp or Krita

Probably people should hack it. Certainly do not use it like that, let them lose customers

[ - ] QuestionEverything 1 point 10 monthsJun 7, 2024 08:02:06 ago (+1/-0)

Pirate that shit.

[ - ] MuricaPersonified 2 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 15:27:10 ago (+2/-0)

This is why I use a cracked portable version of CS4.

[ - ] BulletStopper [op] 1 point 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 20:10:41 ago (+1/-0)

"We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot, drink up me ‘earties, yo ho."

"We kidnap and ravage and don’t give a hoot, drink up me ‘earties, yo ho!"

"Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me!"

[ - ] Jinglebanger 1 point 10 monthsJun 7, 2024 01:13:54 ago (+1/-0)

I kind of doubt Photoshop losing some consumer market share is going to mean jack shit to Adobe. Not only because of the myriad of other programs they offer, some of which are way more integral for day-to-day stuff than photo editing software, but also because businesses aren't going to suddenly switch licenses due to a change that is pretty inconsequential to them.

[ - ] CoronaHoax 1 point 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 20:33:49 ago (+1/-0)

The divide between open source and closed source is gonna be wild.

It’s already wild af between Linux and windows now.

Linux still feels like a OS / machine used to feel. Like you controlled everything, nothing does more than its simple function, doesn’t send anything out and keeps your computer and stuff secure.

They are saving all those bathtub picks in a special folder.

[ - ] RobertJHarsh 1 point 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 15:57:27 ago (+1/-0)

Damn, what is the last version of Photoshop before they went full on cloud?

[ - ] RobertJHarsh 1 point 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 15:48:41 ago (+1/-0)

Looking forward to news of Adobe foundering and going under.

Me as well but I highly doubt it will ever happen. 4.1 seems like they can take down content wherever it is posted, not just on Adobe's cloud, for any reason they see fit.

I wouldn't use any of these people's shit.

paint.exe gigachads: ok

[ - ] iSnark 1 point 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 12:31:55 ago (+1/-0)

A Master Class in how to put yourself out business! I have concerns that Adobe will move to acquire Gimp...

[ - ] SmallGuyFromBrooklyn 3 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 12:57:01 ago (+3/-0)

and OSS will create a fork: see VS Codium

[ - ] mikenigger 0 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 13:14:47 ago (+0/-0)

vs code was always a microsoft product, and if adobe wanted to kill gimp they would hire the core team for a few years and the open sores alternative would die

[ - ] Cantaloupe 0 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 20:06:43 ago (+0/-0)

No it would just fork and a new core team would replace them.

[ - ] mikenigger 0 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 20:37:56 ago (+0/-0)

core team implies people with years of experience with the codebase, not happening

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 2 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 13:13:27 ago (+2/-0)

A lot of companies lately are going this route. I know the jews are making a final push for totalitarian communist control of everything, but when they involve stupid shit like this it just makes me more exasperated by their stupidity.

[ - ] BulletStopper [op] 2 points 10 monthsJun 6, 2024 14:30:43 ago (+2/-0)

I'm old enough to remember the days, back in the dawn of time, after dinosaurs had roamed the Earth (but some of us may still have had brontosaurus hams curing out in the smokehouse) when you could just buy a piece of software and use it.

It was coded by White Men to do a job, and it worked.

[ - ] CornBorn 0 points 10 monthsJun 7, 2024 13:06:20 ago (+0/-0)

I was expecting an Archive.org link to Photoshop CS2 as the solution.

Why would you use the current thing?

[ - ] DukeofRaul 0 points 10 monthsJun 7, 2024 09:20:44 ago (+0/-0)

I only took pictures of my butt without my face so as long as you have nothing to hide this is fine

[ - ] ilikeskittles 0 points 10 monthsJun 7, 2024 09:18:22 ago (+0/-0)

Just find an old version and never update it.
