Absolute bullshit shaving rant.

A 3 blade razor and or blade cartridge is 3-5 dollars a piece. So you end up a dull blade you keep around for way too long because you don't want to buy more of them. You still end up spending 60 bucks a year and still supporting proctor and gamble.

Or... Learn how to shave with a double edge razor. A 100 pack of Derby blades is 9.99. You can have a 2 year supply and still shave with a new blade every time.

A handle might cost 30-60. 120 for a lifetime handle.

I have had to teach myself, my father and my father-in-law how to shave. They literally had no clue that another way even existed, perhaps beside an electric razor. Blows my mind.

You could save a lot of money by switching to not shaving.

I just hit the neckline and my cheecks so everything looks intentional. I use my beard trimmer once a month to keep it at an even length. I think my facial hair grows faster on the left side of my face. It's kinda strange.

I prefer Parker Teflon myself, but that might be a "me" thing. I generally like most platinum blades. I don't really care for Derby but I also know they are quite popular.

You have a preference?

I have a bunch of Lord and Astra. I will have to try the other. Thanks.

I buy a package of disposable Bic “single” blade razors. I use them for a week and get a new one. I think there is 12 in a package. And they cost $ 3-4. A can of Barbasol and you’re good to go. That’s all you need.

After you're done shaving rinse the blade with rubbing alcohol, it will last a lot longer.

A 3 blade razor and or blade cartridge is 3-5 dollars a piece.

Maybe drug store prices, but that's a ludicrous price. Not finding my last purchase, but of the 30 or so razor heads I bought I doubt more than a dollar each. With soap and hot water in the shower, they last for months before needing to be replaced.

Derby blades are good! I really like the Japanese Feather brand. They're pricey but, if your getting authentic Japanese Feather, and not some shit India/Mexico knockoff, they deliver a really good shave. Gotta be careful with them, you can't go hacking like you're using a machete, or you'll become an unintended blood donor.

Open comb or closed comb? I have never had an issue with feather being too aggressive.

Closed comb:

Bought this in 2000, when I worked at a Brokerage House...
I was much more buttoned up & refined back in the day.
