Wash, rinse, dry, return. If you're not using this method, you're retarded.

Agreed.

@cunt

What is all this tomfoolery about?

Omg no. Fuck. Not me. I hate this so much. My husband, brother in law and grandmother do it. At least my grandmother was on tank water for almost my whole life so saving water is ingrained. Haven't seen BIL do dishes enough to say but the other two don't change the soapy water when it gets dirty. It's disgusting. Even if their soapy water was clean, it's still soapy and gross. I've had soapy tasting drinks while my husband was on paternity leave because I let him do some dishes. Some had visible grime still too. 🤢

I soak in soapy water if needed and/or rinse in hot running water, then empty the water and wash in a sink of new piping hot water (the above two love washing in lukewarm water), rinse in more piping hot water and drip dry most of the way (bought a dish rack that was a great investment) and then a new clean tea towel for drying - a linen like smooth cotton one for glasses and other smudgeables and a Terry cotton for all else - I go through up to 5 tea towels a day between dish washing and hand drying. Leaving wet for a long time grows more bacteria then a clean tea towel but I have seen people use some feral days old wet ones.

I could go on...

HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS WAS SUCH A PET PEEVE OF MINE???!?!?11!?

Im finding it hilarious that an Australian finds a dish rack a great investment. You can buy one for a dollar 1.25 here. What kills me is when people will pour time and money to salvage it when it gets gross. Unless one of those metal ones just throw it away. Limescaled crusted pos they keep forever.

Have you seen the double decker ones? horrible.

I like the idea of the dish rack that hangs over your sink but I'm sure that's a mess waiting to happen. I love the dish mats but I have a problem with reusing the same towels over and over ( as you seem to as well) so the mat wasnt practical. Oh I have to wait until the mat is dry before i can wash. 😔.

In laws do the sink thing and it's disgusting. They rinse but are still washing the dishes in dirty water. Gross.

I have seen people use some feral days old wet ones.

Over here in America we have gross fucks that keep the same sponge for months and believe that zapping it in the microwave cleans it. I swear they're just gamma raying the bacteria into super hero class. Forget bats sponges were the unsung hero of virus mutations.

Aussie must love soap-induced dysentery.

That is the last thing I would risk while hiking in the desert-bush.

there's a reason we keep the australians "down under" where they are.

These are the same people that need PSA campaigns telling them not to sniff gasoline.

"Don't be Rama Rama."

[ - ] observation1 2 points 10 monthsJun 12, 2024 22:35:21 ago (+2/-0)

Why not just drink the soap?

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 2 points 10 monthsJun 12, 2024 16:04:15 ago (+2/-0)

I hope not. My dishwasher isn't the best but it does a decent enough job for a 20 year old device.

Your wife is only 20?

But seriously Aussies are something else and I will remind them of their dirty dishes forever after reading this.

[ - ] yesiknow 1 point 10 monthsJun 12, 2024 16:14:57 ago (+1/-0)

WEird, I'd never be able not to rinse, but they're not getting sick from it. My dishes go in the cupboard when they're done, and that's not hermetically sealed or sterile or a disease vector,

The old west people used to use sand and sandy soil to wash their dishes, especially the cast iron pans.

It is weird.
