I fucking hate realtors with a passion. They're all retards who have failed at every other career they attempted prior to becoming a realtor. The MLS system enables the realtor associations to maintain a chokehold on the housing market.
Years ago when looking at properties I was looking through the printout at one house and thought out loud, "Hmm no security system." The stupid realtor cunt immediately said, "Well if someone wants to break in they're going to break in anyway." I had to bite my tongue from telling her how much of a fucking retard she was.
a) A security system can absolutely serve as a deterrent. Would be burglars will likely skip homes that have security systems (window stickers or small signs by the front door).
b) Unless it's a smash and grab and the burglar knows what they want and where it is, if someone breaks into a house and an alarm goes off they're going to GTFO before the zogbots come.
Instead I just kind of nodded and ignored her. It's like this bitch was trying to convince me that I shouldn't concern myself with protecting a home, just because she wants to get the sale. Nevermind that the lack of a security system isn't a dealbreaker for me - I'd install one myself, it was just a matter of informing myself on the details during the viewing.
Needless to say I didn't stick with her. Bitch didn't have my best interests in mind and tried to bullshit me.
It's crazy to me how much power realtors have. They don't just serve as liaisons between buyers and sellers. They can sabotage a purchase, steer buyers towards a different home than the one they really want, "recommend" lousy inspectors who don't check for shit, and engage in all sorts of retardation and nobody bats an eye.
Go to a car dealership, try to buy a car, don't get what you want? Okay, go to another dealership.
That doesn't work in housing. There is no alternative and the realtors have everyone by the balls.
I cannot overstate how much I hate realtors. They're all idiots masquerading as professionals when in reality they're just hucksters and a low level mob clinging to their monopoly thanks to the MLS system.
I had a realtor tell me one time, "I'm not allowed to tell you that a neighborhood has a lot of blacks living in it, but I CAN tell you that I wouldn't live in that neighborhood." Lol
You pay a realtor a shitload of money to coordinate an inspection, title search and a mortgage broker. All of this shit you could do yourself but lost people are ignorant or don’t know. They just blindly believe that you need a realtor to do it. People are so fucked that they won’t buy a house from someone unless a realtor is involved. Most of america is brainwashed as fuck.
Yeah I don't get it. People might have needed realtors before the internet, but they are a completely useless and redundant profession. That's exactly why I fucking hate them with a fiery passion.
I hope over time more people stop using realtors and handle things directly. All you really need is a lawyer.
I had a retardtor show me a studio apartment when I said I wanted a two bedroom place. Moron says it has two bedrooms! And he points at two different corners of this big room. I just left and he whined that he had a lot of other places he could show me. Then why waste my time with something he knows I don't want?
These jackasses also show you places that are $100k over your budget. Why the fuck did you ask me what my budget was. Realtors do NOT give a shit and do not listen.
They're incompetent retards who benefit from an outdated system that has a monopoly on the housing market. A nutless monkey could do their jobs, and far better.
There is no alternative and the realtors have everyone by the balls.
Not completely true. At least where I live.
On the sell side: I've sold multiple properties with 'fixed rate' agencies. Basically for a $400-800 fixed fee, they list my property. They don't do anything except list the property in the database. They never see the property and I never interact with them beyond handing over pictures and the other required documentation. Then, either I show the property myself or the prospective buyer brings a realtor of their own over to see the property.
On the buy side: I've purchased multiple properties representing myself. I simply call up the listing realtor (if it isn't FSBO) and they show me the property. It's the seller's agent, but whatever - it isn't as if I'd trust anything they say. Usually I can get them to reduce their fee to 1% or a flat fee seeing as they are already making their $$ off of the seller. And, of course, they always want to show me other properties but I respond with a polite but firm 'no'.
My experience with this has been excellent. One property that I'm currently selling, I ended up hiring a professional drone operator to take pictures simply because my cheap drone wasn't cutting it. So, more leg work but then again ... not dealing with yahoo realtors.
All good points! Acknowledged that you can operate independently in many cases. I just meant that in the realm of "having a licensed realtor someone assist in buying/selling your home" you end up working within the confines of the same giant mob and the MLS system regardless of which realtor office you choose.
"On the sell side: I've sold multiple properties with 'fixed rate' agencies. Basically for a $400-800 fixed fee, they list my property. I paid $400 for the MLS listing and i did the rest. Saved thousands, but the realestate commission doesn't like people doing this. So in colo they make it now mandatory to hire a realtor. It is complete bullshit.
A realtard is the enemy, never forget that. Fuck that contract they sign with you.
- viewing a house and tell realtor it's too much and what I want to offer. He disagrees and so I tell him, "I'd probably pay "X" but put my offer in while I think about it. They counter offered "X" exactly. He got a return phone call and steered clear of me while I waited out the rest of the 30 days.
I could of choked him......I'm pretty sure I mentioned it and what a cunt he was. Fuck that guy.
Yup most of them are just low IQ cunts. They're not qualified to wash anyone's ass and yet they're the gatekeepers of where people can or can't live. They can fuck people over for whatever petty reason and they strong-arm people into the exclusivity contracts.
You are correct. Have bought/sold six houses without a damn realtor. ALL of them i have found know zero about the property. Last property sold in colo and good old real estate commission changed the law to where you are forced to hire a realtor to set up showings, mls, and doing a buy-sell agreement. It is COMPLETE BULLSHIT. So glad to be out of that fucking communist state.
"Spooky" shit in the front/back yard works as well. They really believe in that shit. A doll nailed to a tree, a rope (sans end-loop) hanging from a tree, a couple of weird signs and signals. Then, after all that, they get to the door and the auto-light comes on and there's a big "defended by X security systems" sticker on the door.
Not to mention the dog. If he barks, my hand is already on the shotgun.
True. But, most people are not giving the general public guidance on 6-7 figure investments.
The simple challenge is realtors have less formal education & training than what is required to cut hair (at least in my state), but they are advising people on the largest financial decisions of their life. It's a bad formula that too often leads to bad outcomes.

, "recommend" lousy inspectors who don't check for shit, and engage in all sorts of retardation and nobody bats an eye.“
I had this last year when I was going to buy a condo in Pittsburgh. The broker recommended a few home inspectors and I found my own (who was really, really good) and she was pissed off and she was trying to figure out my rationale for using the guy.
I don’t remember, but they were obviously friends of hers or at least people who would Probably overlook small things to help her deal go through. My guy was her nightmare.
There was a time when realtors where needed and essential to the process to protect the buyer from getting scammed out of all their money. Family fortunes have been lost to good con artists selling real estate that wasn't for sale. Fortunes have been lost to sales that weren't legal but were upheld by the courts because the paperwork was in order. However these days 99.9% of home sales could be done between buyers as easily as a yard sale. The catch 22 is, as soon as you do away with the legal protections a realtor offers you will inevitably get con artists and scammers knocking at your door. I think of realtors as a necessary evil in an evil world constantly watching for the opportunity to steal your shit
It sucks too that you only visit a house you could spend a lifetime in and spend major money on for 30 minutes, you can try on clothes longer than that.
They're faggot retards who cling to that tiny sliver of power they have, a power they did not earn and don't deserve. Imagine being a realtor and thinking, "I help people."

I literally also realized this and am becoming a realor on the side
What’s so fucked up is if you get a realtor to look for houses, which is nearly impossible not to. Their incentive is to LIE TO YOU, rush you into buying any home, and make sure the price is as jacked up as possible.
Naaaaaaaaaah, it's a job that should be done by intelligent White men. Can AI tell the difference between a solid concrete foundation and crumbling tofu dreg shit like in China?

Realtors Really rack up on properties that are about to be foreclosed on. They always know about them first and keep them for themselves. They still steal little old ladies homes for pennies on the dollar of what they're worth. Another thing about them that really pisses me off is the way they canvas an area trying to buy people's property for cheap when they KNOW that something is about to happen that will greatly increase the value of the property, like if a golf course is going to be built, or a major highway going through.
