Thinking about buying a Judge today

I think I want to buy one today. I've got $400 in gift cards, so why not. I like the 1st and the 3rd, and it looks like the tops got a matte finish and the third is black with better grips. Thoughts?

I like all his videos and by no means am I a gun expert. But every gun has an application and this video did a good job of describing it.

That was a damn good video. Thank you for linking it. He brought up some good points, and now it is swaying my decision a little. I’ve got .45, .38, .32, and like 5 9mm for handguns… living in Florida I thought it’d be a good truck gun/trail gun.

Haha not this time. I ended up buying it. I’ll shoot it this weekend and send an update. First thing to say, is that 50 rounds was $65. That was quite the sticker shock. I bought slugs, 000 buck and a box of long colt.

I’ve got the 45/410 version. It’s holstered on my riding mower, I use it to shoot poisonous snakes when I find them. Works well.

I don't know that round but if it is anything like 45acp, it might jump around in that size frame. Personally, I think it might be a little unpleasant to shoot. If you are looking for a 45, I'd recommend a standard 1911 or combat commander with a steel frame. Probably a little heavy for a casual hike but it would do some work on a gator if needed. The aluminum will save weight and the mags are 7 or 8.

Yeah, this will be a rough gun to operate. Might be worth it if you think you might encounter a bear or boar, otherwise I'd pick something more appropriate. I'm a fan of 10mm auto in a poly frame personally. (They don't call it "best mm" for nothing.)

I like the Idea of the judge as a new version of the Ithaca Auto & Burglar, so using it as a truck gun should be fine. I think carrying it daily might be a bit much, and as home defense I prefer a long gun. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ithaca_Auto_%26_Burglar

Right now I have a really shitty lcp edc 9mm as my truck gun. Anything is a step up from that.

Fun to shoot, and you can get vermin 410 rounds to deal with pests and salt rounds to deal with deer in your garden.

They make a good utility gun, but I'm not sure I would buy one for self defense.

I’ve got an ak12 with a stacked mag of 00 buck and oz slug in my closet for home defense. It’s way too much for the wife to handle though. I was hoping this may be a good thing to use in conjunction with 2 mastiffs. We live near Jacksonville, so the niggers here are a different breed

About 10 years ago, I purchased a Judge with a stack of gift cards.

Least favorite of all my guns. I disliked my Judge so much, I ended up giving it away. True story.

(Ironically enough, my other Taurus broke the same day so I'm down to zero Taurus handguns. I think I'll keep it that way.)

Ooohhhh... I thought you were considering buying a Judge, not a Judge. Don't waste your money on the pistol, the Circuit Judge is pretty rad though.

Truck gun/carry hiking

One of my hiking guns is a S&W 329NG. It is a scandium frame and is a pound lighter than that taurus. I'll carry it when I know there's some bigger stuff around the area or camping. Buffalo bore makes ammo specifically for this pistol.

My truck gun, I always thought, if something happens, it will be vs someone with a gun, likely a road rage incident, and probably they will also have a gun as well.

So I got a Stribog SP9A1 and keep it in a racket ball bag with 6 mags in a chest rig.

I can walk around stores with it as well, and I just end up looking like a pickleball fag instead of leaving the gun in the car.

I think the taurus strength is in it's capability to use multiple types of rounds, especially bird and buckshot. But I don't think it's really a good weapon vs people.

Henry came out with a garden gun. It was a smooth bore varmint shot. I like the idea at least. But not enough to buy one.

My buddy has one, they're nice. I've seen him use it to put down a full grown cow with a single shot to the skull.

Do you know what barrel length he has? I had a 2” j frame .357 that was all aluminum and it was unpleasant to shoot after 20 rounds. I think the mid-sized one would be nice since it has more heft.

I'd have to ask but it is definitely a short barrel. Couldn't be more than 2 or 3 inches
