So much stuff has been broken lately by windows updates, they must have their DEI team in full force now
losing money, time, and sanity trying to fix this shit now all because of a pajeet
this problem is so retarded, it worked fine for years, then stopped working on all 3 of my machines at the same time, i can't even remove the updates on 2 of the machines.
edit : YAY i fixed it, i had to install win 8.1 to get it working though
all 3 of my machines, 2 x win10 and 1x win11 wouldn't work, even when i unistalled the updates from the win11 machine.
fucking jeets
EDIT : settled on win10 because the device iam using is hopeless in win8.1 it has no driver support and the device is a GPDWIN iam pretty much stuck with 10, but ill disable any updating from now, the machine cut right away as it usually did.
my whole night consumed by some pajeets incompetence now jeets really piss me off.
you can't cut vinyl from linux the cutstudio app roland makes wont run, i got it working through 8.1 anyway, i can't seem to find drivers for most of the hardware for the device but the plotter runs so ill leave it at that
i really dont think i can cut vinyl from linux or iam going to waste a whole heap of vinyl test cutting, its a really niche bit of tech, i doubt much work has been made for making it work with linux and i need to use the Roland app to send cuts.
i've just had to settle with 10 because thats the only drivers i can find, ill make a restore point and disable the updates, that should be fine.
I've never really had windows updates ever cause so much chaos across all system but its getting really bad now, i'd advise turning of all updates for the time being.
it was never like this before, i never thought twice about windows updates but now it seems to be the cause of everything and anything
How do we turn off Updates when there is not even a option. Whatever is running turns to shit or eventually crashes and on reboot it automatically installs.
Business OS has turned into PPV tv. "Turn off most ads for a few extra shekels".
Oh please. Panjeet is gonna out-jew the jew? Gates shorted his stock for quick sale and invested in Joogle.
All big software projects are going to get shittier and shittier because they are hugely complex and the software engineers dumber with each generation. Linux is no exception to this.
Unix systems are not a single monolith. A Linux system is built from multiple parts that can be swapped out (including Linux kernel). That keeps quality high.
The Linux kernel is a monolith and has more than 30 million lines of code. Soon after Linus retires, the kernel will turn to shit. Other parts like KDE/GNOME are also a huge mess. I'm not very optimistic.
planning an 8.1 install and turning off all updates
fucking idiots, how can you break something so important like that, they broke a whole bunch of other shit on my PC too. kept dropping sound and the network, still drops the network now and then
I still wouldn't trust them, vinyl cutting can be really funny, i'd be worried about it drawing a 2m line to nowhere for some strange reason and ruining $20 worth of vinyl.
reminds me of a time at a company I was working at and their plasma cutter. A nested plate with several dozen parts on 1" steel plate. the program was previously proven, but somehow glitched out. instead finish cutting a profile it decided to cut a straight line diagonal across the plate, ruining about half the parts. Fun times when computers glitch out. If I remember correctly this was a 5' by 10' plate steel.
Install diskgenius on your windows machine and go to tools and virtualize it to a virtual machine on an external drive
you can do .ova or as a virtual box. you can do both just to be safe.
then install linux. at this point you can install virtualbox and use the virtualbox file you imaged your machine to. or you can install qemu and virt-manager and look up how to convert .ova to qcow2 and do that. qemu gives better berformance.
then you can use linux and if for some gay reason you need some shit from windows you can just launch your windows machine in a window inside of linux.

tell me about it, nuked a perfectly good install of windows to get a lesser version through no fault of my own while wasting 8 hours of my time.
all 3 of my machines, i guess the sign business is hurting bad right now, a lot of people would think their machines are the problem after getting the same result on 3 different PCs.
i nearly though my $2k roland plotter was dead, and those things never die it seems.
Wow. People who have iMacs have no computer problems because they don't do anything with their computer.
I could buy a Chromebook, browse Twitter/FB all day, encounter no problems , and say "zero computer problems." It's still a Chromebook.
And in particular here we are talking about industrial equipment which is notorious for only having windows drivers. This has nothing to do with Windows sucking and results because Windows is ubiquitous.
Contrary to what people on here will tell you, Windows has a good usability-capability combination for most users which is why it's the most popular. The only way to figure out what's wrong with Windows is to be a galaxy brain or to search StackExchange. Realistically, the only way basically anyone fixes Windows is StackExchange. Therefore, it's really not that hard to fix Windows. Such as it can be fixed. Windows is high on the plug-anything-into-it-and-it-stands-a-decent-chance-of-working factor.
Linux has the most capability and the least usability. In theory, you can make it do whatever you want because it's open source, and in practice, there is a lot of flexibility. The community's dedication to N ways to solve a problem is the reason why no one way is perfectly user friendly.
Mac has the least capability and the most usability. The finite number of things it's good at are very usable. Doing anything unsupported is left to the most bizarre hobbyists. This is why Mac is the most popular among people who can afford it. Most people's needs are simple. But Windows is freer.
Couldn't write business checks because the Canon printer stopped working. Mechanically it was a beast. Canon website did not cover my model. Tried everything including seeking archived older drivers but all were wiped from the net. Almost was fucked.
One message during many attempts was "This device has exceeded it's service life".
So Microsoft conspired with the manufacturer to alter a purchase agreement into a licensed service by sabotaging the software. Same thing happened when attempting to reinstall 2007 SolidWorks after it self-corrupted offline, they demanded to be able to access my proprietary artwork and pay a yearly subscription for something already owned.
Zebra bar code printers are notorious with being M$ boofoo buddies. They pull the same shit unless the customer is a "big spender" like a fortune 500. If you know someone in a megacorp, see if they got the "unofficial" release drivers to make their shit keep working.
