Everyone wears clothes, clothes signal status, big potential for markup.

It's a massive industry that influences culture and there's lots of money to be made.

Also historically it's been a big industry for a really long time. People have always needed clothes and it's an ideal ware for the merchant class. They've probably been jewing people on clothes for 1000s of years.
