Recently saw something that said there is company selling little clip on fake dragonflies that you clip on your clothes if you're going to go outside. The dragonfly shapes scare mosquitoes so much that mosquitoes will not come near you.

The other interesting thing I know about dragonflies is all there flying is controlled by a couple of muscles on each of their four wings. And this allows them incredible acrobatic feats that are very simply controlled by simply increasing or decreasing the frequency of those muscles contracting for each wing. In a way there were the first quadcopter and that each Wing controls one axis of rotation so when you mess with the One Wing it's a very easy way to steer yourself.

Anyway the thing went on to say that they had traced the neurons that allowed a dragonfly to be perched and see a mosquito coming from any direction and activated its wings and rotate itself to snag this track this mosquito in mid-air and they determined that it only took something like six neurons to do all of that. And they were actually able to trace what each neuron did and how one was connected to the eye and one was connected to one of the muscles on the wings etc etc. And it just blew my mind that it only took six neurons to see the prey figure out how it needed to rotate its body to grab it in midair and actually activate the wing muscles to make it all happen. So when you think about brains having all the billions of neurons that they have just remember that it only took six to see a mosquito in mid-air launch yourself in the air and rotate your body to catch it. And you have billions.

They cool, they eat mosquitoes. When I take the canoe out it's not uncommon for one to land on the paddle. Funny little guys, the way they cock their head to the side and use their front legs to kinda rub their eyes like windshield wipers. They look like green and blue gems whizzing around the springs. If I had to pick a favorite bug it would be dragonflies. Pretty sure I posted a picture of one awhile back.

We made a pact with dragonflies long ago. They would protect us from harm and we would protect them from us. They have kept their end of the bargain.

The great dragon Zelduin angered the old gods and to smite him they vaccinated him and 100 generations later his children are puny and retarded.
