Amazing price. Chrome lined barrel too. I bought one of their uppers in 2013, just the upper -no lower but with charging handle and BCG, and I paid the same.

It's there now RMGoatBalls. BTW, correct: not a chrome lined barrel. I misread that: "8620 steel M-16 profile carrier is chrome lined and phosphate coated."
BTW, in 2013, I paid $14 for shipping (which was a great price), this complete AR-15 is apparently no cost for shipping, it let me put one in a cart and said $0.00 shipping.
Crackinjokes, the FFA is not a retailer, it is a party which has a Federal Firearm License. My gun range has one on site, as do many Pawn Shops, in addition to gun stores. There is almost always a nominal fee. The FFL handles the paperwork and a criminal check with the cops. Around here, $25 is the norm. You can pay more, and you can pay less (say your next door neighbor has his FFL and likes you). Shop around.
Have dealt with this before. It's good and bad. Good in the way that some porch pirate can't just grab it. Bad cause it's a hassle. Basically pick a local gun store you trust. They'll ship it to them. They'll call when they get it. It's usually a nominal fee. I think the most I paid was $25.

You couldn't even buy the cheapest AR-15 in the 90's for $400. That's not something I would ever pass up.

So it must go to a retailer who will mark it up?

Find a local pawn shop with an FFL. They often have the lowest transfer and background check fees.
