The Winchester M1897 Shotgun
(www.youtube.com)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-73-YPUAFeMOne minor correction: The M1897 Winchester was officially first issued to troops in the Philippine-American War of 1899 and was also used by US forces during the Pancho Villa Expedition along the US-Mexico border in 1916/17.
The fact that it continued to be issued and used should tell you all you need to know.
Fun fact: It was designed for Winchester by John Moses Browning. Having been a world class skeet shooter and fowler all his life, he was also a member of America's Olympic skeet shooting team. The man loved his shotguns, and it showed.
Some rando: "Guns can't be fully semi-automatic."
JMB: "Hold my beer."
I inherited a WW2 vintage M1897 from my great-uncle when he passed, and still shoot it on occasion. Like my M1 Garand, it's a fun conversation starter and I love to see a kid's face light up when they get to shoot something they'd only ever seen in pictures.
Originals are going for anywhere from $2,900 - $4,000
