This isn't about voat but other websites that block anonymous communication.
If catbox, gab, X, etc... is free speech and blocks every avenue you use to access that website anonymously then it's really not a free speech website. IE: blocking tor, blocking countries and blocking almost every proxy out there.
I noticed with pomf links or whatever it's called the images and videos show up. Almost everything else fails the test. All catbox links don't work, all gab, all twitter/X.
Catbox does appear to block Tor connections. They simply time out (I just tried). I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they have the same problem a bunch of other free image hosts have had; degenerate faggots using them to host cheese pizza, either for their personal use, or as an excuse to report the site and get it taken down because it's used by "chuds."
Unfortunately, the only surefire way to mitigate a lot of that is to block Tor connections. The degenerates don't like having their real IP exposed so it tends to keep them away. It's not an ideal method, as it does block a lot of legitimate users, but unfortunately that's the way it has to be for now. You have kikes to thank for that. They've realized that the quickest way to shut down speech they don't like is to flood it with cheese pizza. Especially because when that happens, nobody even asks "why do these miscreants even have the stuff to flood with in the first place?"
As to not being able to reach it on clearnet, that's 100% a DNS issue. Most ISP blocks are at the DNS level, and if you don't use their DNS, you don't have a problem. Comcast/Xfinity might block via their "Enhanced Security Suite", but that's only if you use their equipment. Use your own modem (which they have to allow) and they can't do shit. And they'll probably even warn you that it's "less secure", but that just means "we can't block enough wrongthink."

I struggle a lot with my VPN. It's on a list so most sites concerned about it, like catbox, reject it. It's annoying being a second class citizen for caring about my privacy.
I get why they do it though. Anyone using these tools could upload cp and threaten the site.
