There is no magic bullet. All bullets just make holes. That's all.

They create damage to tissues by puncturing, cutting, tearing, and crushing what is in their direct path.

Statistically speaking, lethality-wise, all pistols are right up there with shuriken, nunchaku, and pointy sticks.
With pointy sticks having a slight edge, but pistols still having the advantage of longer reach.

The single biggest determining factor in quickly stopping a lethal force threat with ANY firearm is shot placement.

Nobody has ever been killed by a fast moving miss. So get some professional instruction from a reliable instructor, and get your ass to the range.

380 fires a smaller bullet and 38 special you can't put into a semi auto, so no, they're not the same

It fires a lighter bullet because it holds a lighter powder charge. In Germany, the cartridge was known as 9mm Kurz, or "9mm short".

Stopping power is a different thing.

Here's a video saying the caliber doesn't matter since the average shot was count for stopping an attack was one shot.

They don't have guns in Australia. A 380 is a 9mm Kurtz which while the same diameter, is shorter. Meaning the round has less powder and subsequent stopping power. I don't know about .38 special, but unless it has some +p cartridges, it will typically be less than a 9.

38spc uses older, lower pressure smokeless powders and has less modern bullet types. I can name two scenarios where guys were shot in the head by it, survived, and that the cops didn't believe they were shot.

380 is weaker than 9x18 but there's a lot of copium surrounding that cartridge here. +p loadings won't change much because the bullet weights are still lighter than those found im 9x18.

I always said it's fine if you're in a rush and just need something to slip into a pocket. I carry 380 from time to time. Also meant to say "9x19", not 9x18. 9x18 is Makarov, which I also pocket carry from time to time but don't really recommend.
