They're expecting 175 to 190 mph winds I think. Do you have brick walls? If your walls are just made of pasta and paint like most new houses and the flying debris will shred through your walls and shred through whoever is inside. That's not to mention the tidal flooding.

You should leave.

Leave where?

What community do you live in? As the track moved north of Tampa, I'm in the bullseye. Evacuate after midnight when traffic is lighter and just go 50 miles north or south. Stay in a rest area or truck stop in your vehicle.

Trumpman is in the Villages, but with the new predicted path, he's gonna get a serious wallop just like me.

Leave regions where hurricanes and tornadoes happen?

The one with the final say is the man of the house. Which means he has the only say in matters like this. Make your own decisions.

You are the one responsible for the well-being of all individuals. This means whatever gets fucked, you have to clean up the mess. That is why there are no votes, just you taking responsibility.

I just took a look at the latest on this storm. It is a tough call all around. That eyewall tho. Hunker down, save the whiskey for the eye.

What is the benefit of staying? Are you planning to stand in front of your house with your arms outstretched?

They are saying it will weaken before it hits land. Florida is built for hurricanes. Hopefully wont be too bad. Might be out of power of a couple weeks.

The US doesn’t have any transformers in storage anymore, so expect months or years without power.

[ - ] Sleazy 4 points 6 monthsOct 7, 2024 17:18:51 ago (+4/-0)

seems like a great opportunity to start a company that builds transformers

[ - ] TheNoticing 2 points 6 monthsOct 7, 2024 20:05:57 ago (+2/-0)

Good luck with that, you'll probably have the companies that "make" those transformers trying to kill you.

That’s not true where I’m at. There’s a shitload of them at the local electric utility yard.

[ - ] Tallest_Skil 0 points 6 monthsOct 7, 2024 20:56:45 ago (+1/-1)

The big ones that take a year to build?

[ - ] MasklessTheGreat 0 points 6 monthsOct 7, 2024 22:12:09 ago (+0/-0)

Define big. The substation ones or the ones for large commercial buildings?

[ - ] Crackinjokes 0 points 6 monthsOct 7, 2024 18:32:55 ago (+0/-0)

Actually this storm path shows that it will help with winds over 110 mph and perhaps much over that

[ - ] Crackinjokes 0 points 6 monthsOct 7, 2024 18:31:58 ago (+0/-0)

Please note that "M" storms are over 110 mph.

It will hit with an M rating.
