This place is a pail shadow of what was once the most controversial website on the internet. I appreciate System for keeping the lights on so we have a place to hangout, but old Voat was an incredible community.
If anything of value was happening anywhere in the world we knew about it first. We had real journalist, weaponized autists, and all breeds of glowniggers posting some of the most amazing deep dives on a daily basis.
News would get posted on Voat days and weeks before it was released by the MSM to the normies.
I remember telling people around me about shit that was going down well in advance of them hearing it from the television or newspapers.
My favorite was watching the internet change in real time when something was exposed on Voat.
The pizzagate investigations were wild. Someone would post their findings on Voat of some new pedo ring they had discovered and within hours social media accounts would be locked down or deleted, and often large corporations that were involved would have to modify their websites and run damage control. Grabbing screenshots back then was very important because as soon as the information hit Voat the original source would be edited or shutdown.
The old Voat Goats around here remember those days.
People were hunting rich pedos and revealing government secrets.
Whenever something big got posted the site would suddenly be under ddos attack for days.
I suspect we had a lot of government insiders leaking us information back then.
It was a magical time, but sadly no one did anything with what we were shown and it was all shutdown.

There was an old user Strayzie or something like that and then she posted a pic of her boobs. It was just a middle age chubby mom with a cups and not exciting at all.

Voat went dead. It was a little more than a weekend and was out of the blue. Atko was contacted by someone and he logged in with his credentials and fixed it until Putt could get back on his feet from that weekends heroin/hooker binge.

This wasn't the first Outage, there were other, smaller ones before it....and after it. Voat was badly managed.

No one noticed partially because they always belonged at voat but never had to come until reddit kicked them out. It was also not noticed because of what came shortly after.

@2019 u/BlackRifleCoffee creates an account. Corporation Black Rifle Coffee finds out that a user has the same name as their company on Voat. Putt deletes the users account.

Putt goes full on reddit and starts deleting accounts for "vote manipulation". I personally fell victim to this. I wasn't doing it. Putt said I was, he checked. I wasn't doing that.
Later he found out that there were some errors to whatever script he was using to determine it. I got my account back but I just didn't have the heart to use it again. This was my alt that I created in case I forgot my password or something nefarious happened where I had to delete. (I'd deleted my first account for the lulz and on a bet that I wouldn't) It was a good thing I did.

The Purge and shaping of The New Voat

Putt took something that was built, maybe not well but built all the same, and couldn't/wouldn't manage it. I also suspect there were some nefarious things going on both personal and financial. It was too much for him, he just wasn't the right guy.
