It's actually near historic lows. 1000 ppm would be nice for both plants and animals.

Plants use CO2 in photosynthesis and produce oxygen. Also, plants feed animals. Humans eat plants and animals. More CO2 is not a bad thing, unless you're trying to kill humans.

My current CO2 level. It goes into the 900s when I'm home, but I have enough airflow to drop it a couple hundred points if I'm out a few hours. It's still climbing back up from my excursion today.

As for plant growing, I used to run my room at 1600 ppm and the plants loved it.
