Why aren't automobiles affordable ?

submitted by anon to askanon 4 monthsDec 7, 2024 13:36:40 ago (+7/-0)     (askanon)

We had relatively affordable cars through the 20th century ( excluding WWII ) until fairly recently .
What gives ?

"Cash For Clunkers"

It cratered the used market in the name of "efficiency" and resulted in the destruction of a lot of otherwise reliable, serviceable vehicles.

Also safety and emissions requirements.

That and retarded insurance rules that dictate the condition of vehicles being sold. Many aren't able to be repaired for anything near their value.

Also people transporting vehicles from nice areas to rust belt areas where they get destroyed in a matter of years.

One reason is safety requirements and regulation.

I've posted this here before but you probably didn't see the example I gave.

A few years ago Mahindra started importing what is essentially a 1950's Jeep into the US as an "off road" vehicle for the UTV market. These vehicles were licensed by Jeep/Willy's back in the day and they've been building them ever since.

So they build, ship them all the way here and sell them for @$13,000.

Remember what I said about it being a jeep? Well, what's a base model jeep in the US cost? I just found a base model 4 cyl turbo with a soft top for $34k.

So where does that extra $21,000 come into play? Remember, they're building a jeep in India, shipping it all the over here, marking it up to cover everyones costs and still it's $21k cheaper......

It's the required 5mph bumpers, it's the airbags, it's the fuel emissions requirements, it's the labor, it's the testing, it's oodles and oodles of government interference.

Tbf, an American jeep is way nicer but is it $21k nicer? And reliable......??? LOL! That's a laugh, you'll have it in the shop 10x more than you'll have it on the trail.

Sometimes it shocks me with the depth of how well informed you remain. I need to study this more. Thanks.

The fed allows endless slavery through Inflation, which is USD printing and spending, most remarkably on such things such as
Foreign "aid" to Israel

Close, I guess.

It seems complicated, but it's probably not.

Americans are retarded, and drive glued to their cell phones. The Federal Government is obligated to prevent Americans from crashing into each other and murdering each other while they're glued to their jew programming devices, so every year they "regulate" by forcing more and more obscene shit on the American consumer - usually a combination of the "environmental" bullshit and lies that all the low IQ morons believe, and tons of onerous technological "safety" features to prevent the retards from killing each other as often while glued to their jew boxes.

The forced emissions bullshit based on ecological lies to make politicians rich increases the cost of everything. The forced safety features to keep idiots from murdering each other while watching porn increases the cost of everything.

You have no representation, freedom, or choice. You are cattle. You need to live longer to be farmed. Enjoy the decline.

Read an article on this recently. Basically it boils down to the top of the chain at the big three wanting more profit.

It's not because you're getting more vehicle for the price. (*In fact, the opposite is true. New trucks are built with v6 engines rather than v8s.)

It's not because of inflation, or the market.

It's not because of rising manufacturing costs.

It's because fuck you, give us more money.

And good looking. Bring back the 90s box cars.

[ - ] anon 3295261 1 point 4 monthsDec 7, 2024 14:04:55 ago (+1/-0)

Why aren't you building and selling affordable cars?

Safety and emissions regulations are the biggest hurdle for a new manufacturer to enter the market.

US DOT regulations.

[ - ] anon 1708065 0 points 4 monthsDec 7, 2024 20:21:44 ago (+0/-0)

The government happened. They made rules about how many miles a vehicle HAD to get per gallon. They insisted every vehicle had 4+k worth of airbags. They insisted the car be able to crumple at the first touch. There is almost nothing the government did not insist on being installed on a car, truck, or motorcycle. All that comes at a price.

Safety and emissions regulations.

[ - ] anon 1074501 0 points 4 monthsDec 7, 2024 22:36:26 ago (+0/-0)

Safety and emissions regulations? Sure that's it, and the same for Eggs, homes, milk, bread and every other thing you want. Reality is that jews (Daaaa FEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD) are getting 6% of every buck the USA borrows. For no apparent reason we borrow and send it off. So keep borrowing and sending that shit off to Ukraine or Israel.

Fucking retards.....you too @bonghits4jeebus

Yes, that's the reason a car costs 3000 in India or China and 35,000 in America. There's no direct connection to the Fed, any more than any other product that's cheap.
