Man I wish I had a billion dollars. I would definitely get the new Toyota sienna with all the extra stuff. Get my own driver so I didn’t have to deal with road rage. Then I would have my own army of weeny dogs. 50 vicious weenies. You cross me I sick them on you. Imagine 50 weenies tearing you apart
I’d likely spend the money building up the European neighborhoods of the cities, seed local businesses, and make sure they focused on maintaining their culture.
Very few billionaires have a billion dollars. What they have is some business which has been valued at a billion dollars. With inflation getting to be what it is and the cost of goods getting to be so high there are a whole lot of rather simple businesses that do a rather modest amount of business that can have their business then valued at a billion dollars because you typically about you a business at 20 times what it's revenue or sometimes profit might be. So you might only have to be doing 50 million in business every year to have your business be valued at a billion dollars and if you're with 100% owner and guess what your billionaire only doing 50 million dollars in business a year.
And before you say oh wow 50 million a year is a lot of business remember you only have to sell 100 houses a year at $500,000 a pop which is a very attainable house price these days to be doing $50 million dollars a year. That's nine houses a month. That's just an example but there are many goods and services that are worth a lot more than $500,000. For example if you service jet engines or if you make certain mechanical parts they can easily be a million dollars each or more so you don't have to sell a lot of them to do a 50 million dollars worth of business every year.
Remember at those scales your net worth is very arbitrarily decided by lots of different types of appraisals. All that really matters is is your business profitable and it can it sustain whatever it's doing.
Now that you know this go out and do it. It's not that hard and it's attainable. Just remember you just have to sell 100 things that are worth $500,000 each year. That's just less than 10 a month. You can do this.
He created Minecraft, a world building game that was, and still is, immensely popular among children. About a decade ago, Microsoft bought out his company (Mojang) for 2.5 billion USD. Notch (real name Markus Persson) got about 1.2 billion of that I believe.
