Ah, the curse of having a birthday adjacent to Christmas. Maybe do the presents and celebration at the halfway point, during the summer? Even with an effort to fully fund presents for both events, the birthday loses importance in all the holiday celebrations.

Yea, from experience Christmas/ New year's can be a tough time for birthday celebrations.

I was due Christmas Eve. Was evicted after New Years. Sorta nice to have "gift cash" to buy things that you hoped to get.

My middle kid is two weeks before Christmas...we make sure he still gets birthday decorations and an appropriate share of gifts.

That's what Mrs and I did. 6.5yr old, 4, 1.5 yr old.

We waited until youngest was roughly 16 months - should be almost toddler (crawling, using spoons to feed, getting close to regular food).

So, by time next sibling came along, the concept of "older brother" wasn't just a waste of words.

We also started in our late 20s.
