With the IRS, the process is the punishment

This is something I've noticed but the IRS is gearing up for much bigger fines and audits. However, once you've been targeted your life is fucked. Let's say the IRS gives you a notice for 50,000 of undue taxes. You pay the taxes by dumping some investment. But now you owe taxes on those transactions. You sell something else, which incurs a new tax event. Every time you pay the IRS you end up paying more in taxes, until you have nothing left.

Secondly the IRS is very one sided. If you lie, you get fined. If they lie its business as usual. the entire IRS legal system is created in such a way that you the tax payer get fucked at every turn. If you appeal, you risk more fines. If you win, best case scenario, you settle for a lower cost. Worst case you end up paying 8% every 3 months. Its a typical heads they win, tails you lose scenario

It's every American's patriotic duty to pay as little or no taxes to this illegitimate
government. If you get audited walk in with grocery bags full of receipts as evidence and make them go thru them one at a time. Tit for tat bitches.

If you go to jail, you've probably been filing tax returns or showing income in other ways. If you're getting money from sources that report you to the IRS, you're doing it wrong.

Keep you finances tight, I have had several audits, and have won them all, no fines, just a time waste.

Yup they feed of ignorance and coercion to get people to pay. Based off the last notice i got, they want me to pay 120% of the total money i made for that year ....

They're losers because they're literally employees, but they deal almost exclusively with the tax cattle. If you don't grow hooves and extra stomachs, the IRS is irrelevant to your life.

The IRS are simply your accountants.

They only act on what they've been told.

Stop ratting on yourself and 90%+ of the problem is solved.

The other 10% is easily resolvable by knowledge of how it works; which almost nobody does.

The IRS is the collection arm of the federal reserve. It's actually a private organization which has been granted federal powers. The treasury police represents the actual interests of the US treasury, and that organization was disbanded decades ago. Pretty wild that we put up with this honestly.

It’s disgusting, frankly.

Vogon poetry will kill you. Best not to fill out the forms in the first place.

I ignored them and never mistakenly showed income again. The stacks of letters eventually stopped coming.

It is designed that way and the only way out is a tax lawyer in most cases.

The way out is not to play.
