I feel like somehow I was able to understand what the dude was saying without the subtitles. Hmm.

It shows a fully stacked AK mag but the discharging is of an SKS

[ - ] AugustineOfHippo2 4 points 3 monthsJan 30, 2025 17:53:58 ago (+4/-0)

It is an sks rifle in the vid, but aren't there mods to allow it to accept ak mags?

[ - ] Zyklonbeekeeper 4 points 3 monthsJan 30, 2025 18:47:39 ago (+4/-0)

@AugaustineOfHippo2 ...yes there are mod adjustments but the one in the vid is original

some SKS variants are made for AK mags

We're going to have to nail down anti-drone techniques for when JOG switches to hard power. I'm not optimistic about this solution, it presents a bunch of problems. The rifled barrel and 3d printed cap aren't going to lend themselves to good shot patterns. I've heard some people don't use rat shot in their prized guns because it'll beat up the rifling. Not sure on that. My 22lr rat shot has the appearance of stainless steel at a glance...

OP's video appears to be lead shot, curious about fouling...

My layman opinion is that, ideally, I'm going to want to be friends with an eagle-eyed crackshot armed with semi-auto shotgun at all times...

Damned joggers.

War will accelerate technology production and techniques. Need being the great motivator and all. Still, if all you have is an AK, you might want a mag with a few of these in it. Maybe it'll work.

I was gonna say, it may be a PITA to carry around, but I think you want a shotgun .

I'm always partial to pump action because I think they're more reliable, though I've heard that info is dated.

[ - ] No_way_oy_vey 1 point 3 monthsJan 30, 2025 21:30:30 ago (+1/-0)

Yeah, a pump won't balk when you feed it whatever random ammo you may acquire, but the high end semi auto shotguns seem to run great with quality ammo.

This drone problem has also made me consider that the gimmicky micro shotguns may come in handy. They are a bitch to aim and do follow up shots compared to a fullsize, but being small and light means it would be doable to throw it over your shoulder on alongside another weapon.

I'm sad I didn't buy one of those micro shotguns back when they could occasionally be found for ~$280, now they look to be more in the $400+ range.

How about show it actually hitting a drone tho ?.

That’s an SKS, not an AK, faggot

[ - ] Love240 2 points 3 monthsJan 30, 2025 16:11:35 ago (+2/-0)

Nice. They have them for 9MM and .22 known as snake shot or rat shot.

[ - ] allAheadFull 1 point 2 monthsFeb 2, 2025 01:22:15 ago (+1/-0)

I shot a snake in the head with a .22 shotshell once from about 10 feet, bounced off and the snake barely flinched. That was 30 years ago, I still have the same box of them.

[ - ] Love240 0 points 2 monthsFeb 2, 2025 01:30:34 ago (+0/-0)

... maybe you should shoot them at cans then.

[ - ] allAheadFull 1 point 2 monthsFeb 2, 2025 21:04:13 ago (+1/-0)

I think they might bounce off tbh.

[ - ] Love240 1 point 2 monthsFeb 2, 2025 21:06:05 ago (+1/-0)

The point is, 'why the fuck do you have them still if they're useless?'
De-clutter and get rid of 'em.
If they're as bad as you say they are you shouldn't even want to grab them by accident (which might endanger you).

[ - ] allAheadFull 1 point 2 monthsFeb 2, 2025 21:09:36 ago (+1/-0)

They are in a flat plastic case of 20. I've had them for almost 30 years. Fuck it I'm going to be buried with them.

🤣

Awesome now an SKS is good for drone defense too!

[ - ] SilentByAssociation 1 point 3 monthsJan 30, 2025 20:21:58 ago (+1/-0)

I wonder if there's a laser system that could explode the battery or melt the propellers. Perhaps some EMP-like device that could break them mid-air? Maybe even an acoustic defensive system.

But all of those solutions require lots of electricity. There's no analog solution quite like a firearm.

Bitchin

Anti-personal rounds!

THE best option.
