The ATF was (it might still be?) a division of the IRS. It was originally the enforcement arm of tax stamps on firearms. Remember, any tax, fee or permit on guns is a restriction on your God given rights. If you have to beg the government for permission, you don't have a right, you have a privilege. One that can be taken away at any time for any reason the state deems necessary.

I believe the current administration is underestimating Musk greatly.

He's not going to just be benevolent. He's a Capitalist, born from CIA In-Q-Tel and DARPA grants.

He's going to backdoor everything plus use the data itself to feed his AI models.
