Remember the president is the most directly elected person other than the county sheriff in the United States system. He also is the most recently elected of the three branches of government in the totality of their composition. That's the founding fathers wanted him to be the one that had the extraordinary ability to act above and beyond if necessary to protect the country and the people. Lincoln knew this and in fact Lincoln ignored several Supreme Court decisions to pursue the policy he thought was necessary to keep the country intact whether or not you agree with his lead up to that or methods is another story. Jackson did the same thing. The truth is the founding fathers wanted an elected King and if you look at some of the old Supreme Court reviews of the pardon power it's quite clear that what the colonists wanted was a king but they wanted an elected King. They liked the English parliamentary system with a king with limited powers but they wanted that King to be an elected King that was their main gripe about King george.

So considering all the unconstitutional laws that congress has created and the unconstitutional decisions that the Supreme Court has done over the years to slowly eat away at our freedoms having a president use some executive orders which might be questionable to try to apparently at least get us back to more of the original idea of what the country should be is absolutely fine with me.
