I've had these troubling train of thoughts lately that are increasing in frequency and intensity.
For instance, I'll look at something I've made, that got compliments, and my mind will say 'it really wasn't that good.'. I'll think about my current life situation and my mind will say 'it's not really that good, it's probably and illusion.' I'll think about my skillset and experience, and my mind will say 'you are nowhere near as good as people tell you.'.
I'm healthy, a bit stressed with work, eat well, get plenty of sleep.
The thoughts are getting in the way of motivation and getting moving. My brain says 'what's the point of that.'.
What gives? Seasonal? I'd like to not feel this way.
Take a vacation. Reset, unplug, touch the earth more. Fuck a 20 year old girl. Whatever it is change it up. You're just in a rut. If you don't drink, drink one night, play. Have fun. Jesus.
You are a higher consciousness above your thoughts. You have the ability and the responsibility to utilize those thoughts which are useful to you, and let the rest just float on by. Your subconscious will give you lots of raw material to work with, it's up to you to finesse it. Not every thought that pops into your head is valid.
It could be seasonal, keep a journal and see if it is the same every year.
Try to get more natural light, light exercise, social activities, lamp therapy.
It could be burnout, mental fatigue, perfectionism, a temporary negative mindset.
Also those intrusive thoughts are retarded - how the fuck does the thought know how good something was? Has it compared it to everything that has been done since the beginning of time in the same conditions to determine it's relative quality? No. So the quality of the intrusive thought is not worth considering.
Have your intrusive thoughts do something useful like provide stock tips if they want to be taken seriously.
Don't link accomplishments to pride, make a system and decide how to spend your time. Only put prideful effort into something worth doing so.
Sounds like OCD if you're looking for some sort of diagnosis.
A psychiatrist will throw meds at you. A CBT will tell you to use your feelings of inadequacy as motivation to innovate or improve. A DBT will tell you to "reality check" the thoughts so you can maintain a more centered existence.
Ultimately, thoughts are just thoughts. They're like dreams; you can't really control what they are or when they will happen. Your reaction to them is something you can control though.
