Finland applies "universal jurisdiction," a legal principle allowing it to bring charges on its soil for suspected serious crimes committed anywhere in the world.

He was also found guilty of authorising fighters to mutilate Ivan Issyk by cutting the symbol used by the group – the kolovrat, or "spoked wheel" – into his cheek.

Torden was also found guilty of having taken derogatory photos of a fallen soldier at the scene and posting them to social media.

1. He led a group that ambushed and killed a soldier.
2. He authorized carving a symbol, which was specifically named, on someone's cheek.
3. He took photos of a corpse

So, under this guise of "universal jurisdiction" any country in the world can charge anyone, even US military personnel with a crime committed in a 3rd country? And then, that person would have to defend himself against accusations? Jurisdiction is an important part of the legal justice system. How would you defend yourself against such charges? Especially in countries that would allow hearsay or circumstantial evidence?

I had a comment about it, so I reposted the headline to make the comment. That comment being about Finland using "universal jurisdiction" to charge, try and convict a Russian soldier for a crime committed in Ukraine. This is obviously inappropriate and legally problematic because it subverts actual and perceived justice.

Now, you're saying that because the Finnish court called the Russian solder a "neo-nazi" and that title was added to the headline, that I should ignore the story and make no mention of it because it adds to the holocaust lie. That's fucking stupid.
