When working with CAD CAM software it's helpful to have three screens. Depending on the 3D models i work with and how complex the machining programs get, it can use a lot of CPU and RAM.

Not sure how anyone can prefer a laptop for any reason other than portability. Desktops can be set up any way you want them.

Well, I use the laptop because it saves space, the keyboard is protected from dust, it has a battery in case of black out, don't need cables, they are portable. Modern laptops can replace desktops easily and they are more comfortable.

I’m not a gamer but I do periodically return to vanilla WoW and a yearly play of Resident Evil 1. I purchased a refurbished laptop so I could play in the tranquility of my dining room - away from my office or work computer.

If I wanted to play modern games, I’d build a full size tower. But the graphics of modern games look no different than the graphics of 20 years ago so why bother with a gaming PC?

All my shitposting here is done on a small tablet.

I was considering getting a tablet, but right now I think it's just a waste of money. Apple is good but expensive. Android is still junk.

A tablet is nice for when you are wrapping up your day and want to sit on a coach or lay in bed. It’s better than dicking around on a phone and not tethered to a computer desk. It’s also easier to use when you’re in school and don’t want to carry around a laptop.

The cheapest smallest Apple iPad is great for Upgoat website. Get a protector for it though.

Very little difference between a laptop and a tower aside from the fact a laptop has a built-in screen.

I had only one laptop screen with one dead pixel. It was really annoying. The motherfucker was also expensive. All the other laptops had great screens.

Desktop, running Mint. I've bought 3 Apple Laptops (wife, 2 kids) and never owned one. Wife also has a newer Apple desktop which I'm frequently called over to help her do something. Apple and Microsoft suck. For myself, I wanted storage space, so I bought a 8 year old Dell Opteplex and stuffed a 4tb SSD drive in it and killed the windows by overwriting it with Linux (Ubuntu, later Mint). Backups to the slow HD it came with and an external SSD.

I've got a Motorola phone running android that has a 1 tb memory card in it. If I'm flying somewhere and want to watch a movie, I take my wifes Ipad.

WOW You are a busy guy. Apple and Microsoft suck indeed. Unfortunately, Bill Gates managed to kill all the OS competition, and Apple helped him. With Apple around, he can't be considered a monopoly. I remember the days when Microsoft was obvious junk, and there were many other OS, before the POS killed them all.
