Windows 11 vs Boomer

So I set this boomer up with a new Windows 11 PC last week.

transferred all his data from his 15 year old clunker. Set him up with a local account. Made sure everything works.

Today he calls me and he can't log in. Now he has a Microsoft™ Account and its asking for a pin. But it never sends him the pin.

I asked him why he did that. He said he was trying to get a 2FA code from stripe.

He also uninstalled my remote support.

I don't think he's going to make his meeting.

Windows 11 is the start of the change. Whatever those demons release will be worse and more Orwellian by the update.

Linux will be the supreme OS in 10 years time. I'd bet about anything on it.

If it isn't Linux, it'll be a company that uses Linux to make a clean, user friendly OS at the base.

People just get freaked out by the terminal. You could easily make a UI with buttons you push to do terminal commands in the background without the stupid user being wise to it.

when you setup an ms account you also set a pin to log into your computer.

Through his efforts to obtain a 2factor SMS pin for Stripe had changed his local Windows account to an online account and logging in to his microsoft account that had a landline as the 2FA method and Microsoft kept trying to send 2factor SMS requests to the landline

1) Backup his windows data to an ssd drive.

2) Install Linux Mint.

3 Setup an auto backup for linux. Done

Microsoft's MFA system is totally fucked. I have to deal with that broken shit every day. Every single Windows 11 machine in our environment constantly harasses you for a Microsoft account. I hate all of it. I need a change of career.
