Do NOT say you shot them, this is important because that call can be used against you. After that hang up, use your phone to take pics of any relevant evidence like their weapon and there better be one, your shell casings and then PIN lock your phone.
Verse yourself in that with whatever platform you have. Ensure your weapon is safe and action locked to the rear and place it away from you so long as you are not in danger.
Now cops are going to show up within 3 to 6 minutes and thatis going to be the longest minutes of your fucking life. Do NOT under any circumstances say a fucking word other than you are in shock and you want to see a doctor.
Repeat that every time they ask anything. You want to see a doctor, they read you your rights do not respond. Stare foward and do not make eye contact. Obey their commands and do not resist.
Once you are at the hospital the doctor will ask you if anyone should be contacted. Tell them your emergency contact and if you speak to them tell them you need a lawyer.
The hospital can hold you long enough to get representation and only give your lawyer the pin to your phone and no one else, because any and I mean any evidence can and will be used against you.
This hospital angle will keep you from interrogation for a little while and do not tell them what happened either only talk to your lawyer.
To add to this, consider Attorneys on Retainer rather than carry insurance. Criminal acts can't be insured, so your support stops if you're charged criminally or if some insurance underwriter decides you acted criminally. At that point, you're on your own.
AoR is significantly different than the other insurance-based ones. AoR is actual attorneys who cover far more (they have a YouTube channel and you can get an idea of the character of the main guy).

Its not uncommon to shoot until empty in the heat of the moment. Stopping early shows your mental state to be 'aware' and they can argue that you were 'so aware' that you should not have started shooting to begin with.
It will not, what would be is if you reload and keep shooting them. We have case law that supports this, and most experienced people will tell you the same as me.

Android has a setting where the PIN is entered 20 times incorrectly, the phone resets to factory settings.
Great for this scenario, shitty if your phone is otherwise stolen.
Cops can't force you to remember a PIN. They can force biometric logins though.
