Ahh, the ol': "I'm a pathetic piece of shit but at least I'm demonstrating a marginal fraction of self-awareness so please comfort me and shower me with praise," routine. Fucking musicians give music a bad name.

As a kid in New Orleans, Blues and Jazz were all around me. Had to be there in the good old days before the more modern music. Mardi Gras was music central for two weeks Plus, before all the air conditioning, the clubs on Bourbon Street had the doors open and music poured into the streets. I loved that scene as a kid.

If you study the history of popular music, you'd know that all modern music came out of Blues and Jazz and black gospel, especially in south east Arkansas, all in the 1920's. I can even pinpoint the one fellow who built rock and roll music as a popular music form. And everything came out of that.

As for the Blues music, there's always room for sad songs. It's because so many people have hard lives. It's why Country/Western music remains popular. People can relate to hard times music.

Go back to New Orleans then, faggot. Fuck you and your gay take on music. Everybody's got a hard life, difference is we don't bitch about it. Your opinion sucks and you should feel bad that you tried to sound smart about the history of bullshit whining noise.

St. James Infirmary is a New Orleans classic, going way back to the early days of blues and jazz. It was actually about a poor people's hospital in San Francisco, CA. First recorded by Louis Armstrong in 1928, but the lyrics were written by a Ukrainian jew. The music was originally recorded by the California Ramblers in the song 'Charleston Cabin', performed as a fox trot.
